Questions and Answers

Overview

The DanVex DEH-500i / DEH-900i / DEH-1200i series comprises air dehumidifiers designed for effective moisture removal and automatic humidity control in various environments. These units operate on the condensation principle, drawing in moist air, cooling it to the dew point in a "cold" heat exchanger (evaporator) to condense moisture, and then reheating it in a "warm" heat exchanger (condenser) before discharging it back into the room. This process ensures continuous air circulation and gradual reduction of room humidity.

Function Description

The primary function of these dehumidifiers is to maintain a desired relative humidity level within a range of 40-100% at atmospheric pressure, with an operating temperature range of +5°C to +32°C. They are particularly useful in:

  • Flood recovery: Eliminating the consequences of flooding in heated premises.
  • Storage facilities: Maintaining optimal conditions in heated warehouses for packaging and finished products, and for storing and aging cheeses.
  • Construction: Facilitating internal wet construction and finishing works.
  • Food industry: Supporting the production and storage of confectionery products and foodstuffs, and drying fish, vegetables, fruits, and starch.
  • Industrial applications: Used in painting chambers, test laboratories, production facilities requiring high-precision equipment, rooms with open reservoirs and pools, premises needing frequent wet cleaning and laundry, pumping stations, and production zones for injection molding.

The dehumidifiers feature automatic operation, controlled via an LCD display panel. This panel allows users to set desired humidity levels, monitor current parameters, and view service information in case of malfunctions. The unit automatically turns off when the set humidity level is reached. A safety device prevents the compressor from restarting immediately after shutdown, ensuring a 3-minute delay to prevent damage.

Condensate collection is flexible: users can either direct the condensate into a built-in removable tank or connect a hose for direct drainage into a sewer system, allowing for continuous operation without interruption for tank emptying. The unit also includes a "Tank Full" indicator, which automatically shuts off the dehumidifier if the tank is full or missing until the issue is resolved.

To prevent freezing of the heat exchanger in cold conditions, the automation temporarily switches off the compressor while the fan continues to operate, initiating a defrost cycle. Once defrosting is complete, the compressor restarts, and dehumidification resumes.

Important Technical Specifications

The DEH-i series dehumidifiers are built with a metal, corrosion-resistant housing, powder-coated for durability. They are equipped with tubeless wheels and a high transport handle for easy mobility.

  • Protection Class: IP22, IEC standard.
  • Air Filter: Removable, washable G3 filter for cleaning incoming air.
  • Refrigerant: R32, with varying charges depending on the model:
    • DEH-500i: R32*250g
    • DEH-900i: R32*400g
    • DEH-1200i: R32*500g
  • Voltage / Frequency: 230V/50Hz for all models.
  • Noise Level: < 64 dB(A) for all models.

Model-Specific Performance Data (at 30°C / 80% RH):

Usage Features

  • Control Panel: Features waterproof buttons and an LCD display for ON/OFF, timer settings, and humidity level adjustment (+/- buttons). The display shows current and set humidity, operating modes, and service information.
  • Timer Function: Allows setting the dehumidifier to turn off from a working state or turn on from an idle state, with a range of 1-24 hours.
  • Automatic Operation: Once switched on and a desired humidity level is set, the unit operates automatically. The fan starts first, followed by the compressor after a short pause (3 minutes delay to protect the compressor).
  • Condensate Management: Users can choose between internal tank collection or direct drainage to a sewer system.
  • Error Codes: The display shows error codes (E1, E3, E4, E5) if there are issues with temperature sensors, refrigerant system, or compressor. E4 (blinking) indicates a refrigerant leak or compressor malfunction, while E5 signifies high refrigerant temperature.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Never operate the unit without a filter.
    • Do not block air intake or supply grilles.
    • Do not wash the unit under running water.
    • Ensure vertical installation during transport and operation.
    • Avoid using in explosive environments or where air contains aggressive substances (oils, salts, sulfur, chlorine).
    • Close windows and doors in the drying room to prevent moist air ingress.
    • If the dehumidifier is not to be used for a long time, unplug it.
    • Operation with a clogged filter or heat exchanger can lead to compressor overheating and failure, which voids the warranty.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring a long service life and trouble-free operation. Always disconnect the dehumidifier from the mains before performing any maintenance.

  • Introduction: The frequency of maintenance depends on operating conditions. Incomplete or incorrect maintenance can reduce efficiency or damage the unit.
  • Frame: Clean the unit's body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents, abrasive detergents, or jet water.
  • Filter: The washable coarse air filter should be cleaned as it becomes clogged, but at least once every two weeks. Operating without a filter is prohibited as it can lead to heat exchanger contamination and corrosion.
  • Heat Exchanger: With proper use and a clean air filter, the heat exchanger generally requires no maintenance. However, in dusty environments, it may need cleaning with warm water (without solvents or aggressive detergents), followed by compressed air, after disassembling the housing and protecting electrical components.
  • Fan Motor: The motor's rolling bearings should be lubricated or replaced depending on usage intensity, but at least once every two years, as dust and moisture can reduce their service life.
  • Compressor Refrigeration System: This is a closed-circuit system that does not require special maintenance. Any diagnostic or maintenance activities must be performed by a qualified specialist or an authorized service center.
