Overview

The document describes the Daytona 3 Ton Low Profile Floor Jack (Model DS300LPB), a hydraulic lifting device designed for automotive and similar applications. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for its safe operation, assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Daytona 3 Ton Low Profile Floor Jack is a hydraulic lifting device used to raise vehicles or other heavy loads. It is designed for use on hard, level surfaces and has a low-profile design, allowing it to fit under vehicles with minimal ground clearance. Once a load is lifted, it must be immediately supported by appropriate means, such as jack stands, as the jack is a lifting device only and not intended for sustained load support. The jack features a long handle for leverage and a saddle pad to securely contact the lifting point of the vehicle.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Weight Capacity: 3 Tons (6,000 lb.)
  • Maximum Height: 20 inches
  • Minimum Height: 3.25 inches
  • Handle Length: 45 inches
  • Hydraulic Oil: Non-detergent 22 weight hydraulic jack oil
  • Weight: 79 lb.

Usage Features:

  • Low Profile Design: With a minimum height of 3.25 inches, the jack can easily access low-clearance vehicles.
  • Long Handle: The 45-inch handle provides ample leverage for easy pumping and lifting.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes critical safety instructions, including not exceeding the rated capacity, using the jack only on hard, level surfaces, and immediately supporting the lifted vehicle with jack stands. It also warns against moving or dollying the vehicle while on the jack and using any objects between the saddle pad and the lifting point.
  • Handle Assembly: The handle consists of an upper and lower section that click into place. It is then secured into the handle socket with a set screw.
  • Bleeding Trapped Air: Before first use and if the jack's motion seems spongy or the saddle does not lift completely, air must be bled from the hydraulic system. This involves opening the release valve and pumping the handle quickly 10-15 times.
  • Lifting Procedure: To lift, the handle is turned clockwise to close the valve, the saddle is positioned under the vehicle's recommended lifting point, and the handle is pumped with smooth, full strokes.
  • Lowering Procedure: To lower, jack stands are removed after raising the load slightly, and then the handle is slowly turned counterclockwise (never more than 1/2 full turn) to lower the vehicle to the ground.
  • Vehicle Preparation: Before lifting, the vehicle must be parked on a flat, level, solid surface, the engine turned off, transmission in "PARK" (automatic) or lowest gear (manual), emergency brake set, and wheels not being lifted chocked.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Users are instructed to wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pre-Use Inspection: Before each use, the jack should be inspected for leaking hydraulic oil, loose hardware, misalignment, binding parts, cracks, bends, or broken parts. Any issues must be corrected before use.
  • Hydraulic Oil Level Check and Addition: The hydraulic oil level should be checked and filled as needed. This involves removing the cover plate and fill plug, then slowly adding non-detergent 22 weight hydraulic jack oil until the oil level just covers the top of the piston.
  • Hydraulic Oil Change: The hydraulic oil should be changed at least once every three years. This involves draining the old oil and refilling with new non-detergent 22 weight hydraulic jack oil, followed by bleeding the system.
  • Lubrication: Weekly lubrication is recommended using general-purpose lithium grease. Grease should be injected into the grease fittings, and linkages and pivot points should be lightly lubricated. Improper or inadequate lubrication voids the warranty.
  • Storage: After use, the jack should be wiped dry with a clean cloth and stored in a safe, dry location out of reach of children. Storing in a humid area or exposing it to corrosive vapor voids the warranty.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A detailed troubleshooting section helps diagnose common issues such as the jack not lifting, saddle lowering under load, spongy pump stroke, handle moving up when jack is under load, or oil leaking. Solutions include checking the release valve, bleeding trapped air, flushing valves, and checking/adjusting oil levels.
  • Safety Valve: The manual explicitly states that the safety valve covers should not be opened or adjusted.
