To make Dimension B shorter, screw the rod left; if Dimension B needs to be
longer, screw the rod right;
Tighten the jam nut tightly against the rod end, recheck the distance and repeat the
above steps until the Dimensions are the same as the required.
5.16 Gearshift Lever
Caution: Proper operation of this vehicle requires that the driver shift from 1
st
into 2
nd
gear. When the engine reaches a high RPM in 1
st
gear, the driver should release the
accelerator pedal and push the shift lever forward into 2
nd
gear. Then, press back
down on the accelerator pedal to continue driving forward. Failure to properly shift
may result in engine overheating, which may damage the engine and poses a fire
hazard.
How to shift from 1
st
into 2
nd
gear:
1) When the vehicle is running, stepping on the accelerator pedal provides
acceleration…UNTIL the limit of speed in 1
st
gear has been reached. At this point
the vehicle will no longer accelerate in speed, and the engine will be very loud.
2) To change gears:
a. Release the accelerator pedal;
b. Press the shift lever forward until it engages 2
nd
gear;
c. Press back down on the accelerator pedal to resume driving.
