Overview

This document provides a comprehensive user guide for the DC ED50/SD45/SXD45/SD50/SXD50 series of dishwashers, covering preparation, operation, and daily maintenance.

Function Description

The DC dishwasher series is designed for commercial use, offering efficient washing of items. It features a wash cycle, rinse cycle, and for some models, a water softener regeneration system. The machine is equipped with indicator lamps for power, wash cycle, machine ready, and for softener models, salt low and regeneration. SXD models also include a cycle time selection lamp and switch.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model Series: ED50/SD45/SXD45/SD50/SXD50
  • Power: Indicated by a green power lamp.
  • Wash Cycle: Indicated by a wash cycle lamp.
  • Machine Ready: Indicated by a machine ready lamp.
  • Water Softener (Softener Models Only):
    • Salt Low Lamp: Warns when the salt container is low or empty.
    • Regeneration Lamp: Illuminates during the 15-minute regeneration cycle.
    • Salt Capacity: Holds 500g of granular catering salt, sufficient for approximately five regeneration cycles.
  • Cycle Time (SXD Models Only): Selectable via a switch, with options for 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Chemical Dosing: Uses separate red tube for detergent and clear/blue tube for rinse aid. Foot valves with filters are attached to the chemical supply tubes.
  • Drainage: Features a drain plug. Optional drain pump models automatically pump out water when the machine is switched off after removing the drain plug.
  • Filtration: Equipped with a filter system located in the wash tank.
  • Wash/Rinse Arms: Features removable wash and rinse arms with jets. The rinse arm is secured by a retaining nut, and the wash arm by a rinse pin.

Usage Features

Preparation:

  1. Drain Plug and Filters: Ensure the drain plug is firmly in place and filters are properly located.
  2. Chemical Supply: Verify that the detergent (red tube) and rinse aid (clear/blue tube) chemical supply tubes, with foot valves attached, are submerged in sufficient chemical. Replace with a full container if low. Do not operate the machine without chemical.
  3. Power On: Close the door and press the power switch. The green power lamp will illuminate.
  4. Heating: Wait for the machine to fill with water and reach the correct washing temperature. The machine ready lamp will illuminate.

Operation:

  1. Loading: Remove all debris from items before placing them into the basket. Load items ensuring no items are covering each other, then push the basket into the machine.
  2. Start Cycle: Close the door and press the cycle start switch. The washing cycle will begin, and the wash cycle lamp will illuminate.
  3. Cycle Completion: The wash cycle lamp will turn off. Open the door and pull out the basket.
  4. Draining: Allow excess water to run off before removing the basket.
  5. Conservation: Close the door if not washing to conserve temperatures.

Water Softener Regeneration (Softener Models Only):

  1. Salt Low Warning: The salt low lamp indicates low or empty salt.
  2. Refilling Salt: Unscrew the salt container lid (inside the wash tank) and fill with granular catering salt. Avoid overspilling; if salt spills onto stainless steel, rinse thoroughly with water. Ensure the lid is secure after filling.
  3. Automatic Regeneration: The regeneration cycle is fully automatic, starting after the first fill and during initial heating when required.
  4. Regeneration Lamp: Illuminates during the 15-minute regeneration process. Do not switch off the machine during regeneration.
  5. Cycle Resumption: Once regeneration is complete, the regeneration lamp will turn off, and the machine will continue to heat.
  6. Ready for Wash: Wait for the machine to reach the correct washing temperature; the machine ready lamp will illuminate, indicating it's ready for washing.

Maintenance Features

Daily Cleaning & Maintenance:

  • Safety Warning: Do not use any chemical compounds containing chlorine-ions (bleach, chlorine, salt, de-stain, de-tan, brine, Milton fluid, etc.) as they are highly corrosive to stainless steel A304 and can cause "pin holes" and rust. If such chemicals are used, ensure all debris is removed and the machine is thoroughly rinsed. Corrosion due to misuse is not covered under warranty.
  • Cleaning Tools: Do not use steel wool scouring pads.
  • PPE: Always wear correct Personal Protective Equipment when operating, cleaning, or maintaining the machine.
  • End of Session Procedure:
    1. Turn off the power switch. Do not remove the filter yet.
    2. Remove the drain plug. The wash tank will empty (drain pump models will automatically pump out water).
    3. Collect and remove debris from the wash tank.
    4. Clean around the wash tank, door surrounds, and hinges with an 'Addis' type washing up brush and cleaning cloth.
  • Filter Cleaning:
    1. Remove the filter and clean thoroughly with an 'Addis' type washing up brush.
    2. Run water over the filter while brushing all parts.
    3. Fibers and food debris can be easily cleaned by brushing.
    4. Do not hit the filter against a sink or food bin, as this can damage or distort it.
    5. Replace the filter after cleaning and the drain plug before use. Do not use the machine without filters.
  • Lower Sump: Be careful not to allow debris into the lower sump, as it can damage internal pumps and the wash system.
  • Wash/Rinse Jet Cleaning: Regularly check that rinse and wash jets are clear of debris or limescale.
    1. Unscrew the rinse arm retaining nut to remove the rinse arm.
    2. Remove the rinse pin that holds the wash arm in place.
    3. Clean both arms thoroughly and reassemble.
  • General Cleaning: Remove cutlery, plastic wrappings, and broken glass from inside the wash tank daily.

Pre-Washing Guidelines:

  • Scrape bulk food from items into a food bin and remove paper, plastic, or objects.
  • If possible, pre-rinse the complete basket of items with water before loading.
  • If pre-washing with soaps or washing liquids, rinse items thoroughly before placing them in the basket.
  • Warning: Introducing washing up liquids into the machine can cause excessive foaming, reducing washing performance, preventing water draining, and potentially damaging the machine.

Chemical Dosing:

  • Detergent (Red Tube): The amount dosed depends on the quality and dilution information on the chemical container. Adjust dosing quantity if changing chemical supplier. Incorrect dosing leads to poor washing results.
  • Rinse Aid (Clear/Blue Tube): The amount dosed depends on the quality and dilution information on the chemical container. Adjust internal dosing pumps if changing chemical supplier. Incorrect dosing leads to poor washing results.
  • Safety: Follow chemical manufacturer's advice and warnings for liquid detergent and rinse aid. Adhere to PPE guidelines from the chemical manufacturer.
  • Service Calls: Service calls to rectify faults caused by "the lack of routine maintenance" will be charged for, and warranty may be affected.
