A high ambient room temperature can also cause this. If recently plugged in or loaded with food, allow extra time to cool down. Hot food placed inside can extend running time until cooled. Frequent door openings or doors left ajar introduce warm air, causing longer operation. Ensure doors are tightly closed and the door seal is clean and properly seated, replacing if damaged. Adjusting the refrigerator to a warmer temperature can also help.
