Installing and Uninstalling the SMI-S
Provider
System Requirements
The system requirements to install and run the SMI-S Provider include:
Memory requirements—1 GB minimum (2 GB preferred).
Connectivity requirements—Ethernet with 100BASE-T minimum
(Gigabit Ethernet preferred), TCP/IP.
Port requirements—TCP port 5988 or TCP port 5989, or any other
available port if these ports are not available.
Storage array password—The device credentials profile requires the storage
array password (SharedSecret) to modify operations. The SMI-S Provider
persistently tracks an instance of the SharedSecret per storage array.
Installing SMI-S Provider
For Windows
The SMI-S Provider is packaged as an installation executable file. To install
the SMI-S Provider:

Move the SMI-S Provider installation executable file on the server where
you want to install the SMI-S Provider and double-click the installation
executable icon and follow the instructions on the screen.
During installation,
ArrayHosts.txt
file opens.

Enter the
HostName
(s)
or
IP Address
(s)
of the MD storage array(s) to be
managed by the host in ArrayHosts.txt, save and close the file.
CAUTION: Enter only one of the two management ports' IP addresses of each
array in this file. Do not enter the IP addresses of both management ports.

Click
Finish
.
The SMI-S Provider is installed on your system. After installation, you can
delete the installation executable file.
