Do you have a question about the DeLonghi AN125HPEK and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document outlines the operation, maintenance, and safety guidelines for a portable air conditioner. The device is designed for cooling and dehumidifying domestic environments and should not be used for other purposes. It is crucial to adhere to the instructions to prevent risks or damage to the appliance.

Function Description

The air conditioner offers multiple operating modes:

  • Air Conditioning Mode: Ideal for hot, muggy weather, this mode cools and dehumidifies the room. Users can set the desired temperature and fan speed. The appliance automatically selects the most suitable fan speed in AUTO mode based on the set temperature and current room temperature. Recommended indoor temperatures for summer range from 75°F to 81°F (24 to 27°C), but it's advised not to set it significantly below the outdoor temperature.
  • Dehumidifying Mode: This mode is perfect for reducing room humidity during spring, autumn, rainy periods, or in damp rooms. In this mode, the air exhaust hose must be connected to discharge moisture outside. The appliance operates by continuously removing humidity from the air.
  • Fan Mode: When only air circulation is desired, the appliance can operate as a fan. In this mode, the air exhaust hose does not need to be connected. Users can select different fan speeds (minimum, medium) to suit their comfort needs.
  • Heating Mode: Suitable for spring and autumn when outdoor temperatures are not extremely low, this mode provides warmth. Similar to air conditioning, the air exhaust hose must be connected to discharge moisture. The fan speed is automatically selected by the appliance in this mode. During operation in very cold rooms, the appliance may automatically defrost, temporarily interrupting normal operation and displaying "Lt." It's normal for the appliance noise to change during this process.

Usage Features

The appliance can be operated via a control panel on the unit or a remote control.

Control Panel (C):

  • ON/STAND-BY button (C1): Powers the appliance on or off. When turned on, it resumes the last operating mode.
  • MODE selection button (C2): Cycles through conditioning, dehumidifying, fan, and heating modes.
  • Decrease temperature/programmed operation time button (C3): Adjusts the desired temperature or sets delayed operation time.
  • Timer button (C4): Activates the timer function for delayed start-up or shutdown.
  • Fan speed selection button (C5): Selects fan speed (LOW/MED/HIGH/AUTO) in air conditioning and fan modes.
  • Increase temperature/programmed operation time button (C6): Adjusts the desired temperature or sets delayed operation time.
  • Symbols (C7-C10): Indicate the active mode (air conditioning, dehumidifying, fan, heating).
  • Alarm symbol (C11): Illuminates to indicate an error or issue.
  • Fan speed indicator (C12): Shows the current fan speed setting.
  • Timer symbol (C13): Indicates that the timer function is active.
  • Set temperature symbol (C14): Displays the target temperature.
  • Time indicator (C15): Shows the programmed delayed ON/OFF time.
  • Temperature value set, programmed delayed ON/OFF time (C16): Displays the set temperature or timer duration.

Remote Control (D):

  • ON/STAND-BY button (D1): Powers the appliance on or off.
  • Increase/decrease temperature/programmed operation (D2): Adjusts temperature or timer settings.
  • "MODE" selection button (D3): Cycles through operating modes.
  • Fan speed selection button (D4): Selects fan speed.
  • Switch button °C/°F (D5): Toggles temperature display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
  • TIMER button (D6): Activates the timer function.

Installation:

The appliance offers both temporary and semi-permanent installation methods.

  • Temporary Installation (Double-hung window): Involves placing a window bracket in the sill, extending it, fixing it with a pin, and lowering the window onto it. The air exhaust hose is then fitted into the appliance and connected to a window outlet, which is inserted into the window bracket. For casement windows, the window outlet is placed outside to exhaust hot air. Additional window brackets can be used for larger windows.
  • Semi-Permanent Installation: Requires drilling a 5.25-inch (134 mm) hole in an outside wall or window pane. A wall flange is fitted into the hole, and the air exhaust hose is connected from the appliance to the wall flange. The drilled hole can be closed with a flange cap when the hose is not connected. When installing semi-permanently, a door should be left slightly open (about 1/2 inch or 1 cm) to ensure proper ventilation and room pressure. Air hoses should be kept as short and straight as possible to avoid constrictions.

Timer Function:

The timer allows users to delay appliance start-up or shutdown, conserving electricity.

  • Delayed Start-up: Plug the appliance in, turn it to standby, press the timer button, and use the +/- buttons to set the delay (up to 24 hours). The appliance will start in the previously set mode.
  • Delayed Shutdown: With the appliance on, press the timer button, and use the +/- buttons to set the delay. The appliance will switch to standby after the set time.

Safety Features:

  • The appliance is equipped with a special safety device that prevents the compressor from restarting for at least 3 minutes after it switches off.
  • A safety plug protects the power cable. If power is cut off, unplug the unit and check the cable. If the safety device in the plug trips, press the "RESET" button to restore operation. Periodically press the "TEST" button to verify the plug's functionality.
  • The appliance has a self-diagnosis system that displays error messages (e.g., "Lt" for low temperature/frost prevention, "PF" for probe failure, "HL" for high level/internal tray full).

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning the Cabinet: The appliance should be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth and then dried. Do not use petrol, alcohol, solvents, or insecticide liquids. Never wash the air conditioner with water.
  • Cleaning the BioSilver Air Filter: The filter, housed in the intake grille, should be cleaned regularly (at least once a week for constant use) to maintain air circulation and efficiency. To clean, extract the filter, use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust, or immerse it in warm water (not hotter than 104°F/40°C), rinse, and allow it to dry completely before reinserting. The BioSilver filter helps capture dust, pollen, and reduces bacteria and mold growth.
  • End of Season Operations: To drain all water from the circuit, remove the cap from the drainage on the back of the appliance and allow water to drain into a basin. The water drain hose with cap can be used to facilitate this. After draining, clean the filter and dry it thoroughly. Cover the appliance with the supplied dust cover and store accessories in the accessories bag.
  • Start of Season Checks: Ensure the power cable and plug are undamaged and the ground connection is efficient. Follow installation instructions precisely.

Important Safeguards:

  • Use the appliance only as described in the manual.
  • Do not alter or modify the unit's characteristics.
  • Install the appliance according to national legislation.
  • Contact an authorized Repair Service Center for repairs; unauthorized servicing is dangerous.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, unless supervised. Children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the appliance.
  • If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized technical service center.
  • Always ensure the appliance is plugged into a grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not use extension cables.
  • Unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Do not pull or strain the power cord when moving the appliance.
  • Do not install where the atmosphere contains combustible gases, oil, or sulfur, or near heat sources.
  • Do not rest hot or heavy objects on the appliance.
  • Transport the unit in a vertical position. If not possible, secure it at an angle, but do not lie it horizontally. Drain the unit before transport. After transport, wait at least 6 hours before switching it on.
  • Packaging materials are recyclable; dispose of them in special containers for differentiated waste collection.
  • Never switch off the appliance by unplugging it; always press the ON/STAND-BY button, wait a few minutes, and then unplug. This allows the appliance to perform standard checks.
  • Refrigerant (R410A) handling, filling, cleaning, recovery, and disposal must be performed by a technical service center appointed by the manufacturer. The appliance should be disposed of by a specialist center.
  • To avoid damage, never transport or turn the appliance upside down or on its side. If this occurs, wait 6 hours (24 hours recommended) before turning it on to allow oil to return to the compressor.
  • This product is for household use only.
