How to fix espresso coffee not coming out of my DeLonghi BCO420 Coffee Maker?
    • M
      Misty SmithAug 12, 2025
If the espresso coffee no longer comes out of your DeLonghi Coffee Maker, it could be due to a few reasons. First, check if the water tank is empty and refill it if needed. Another possibility is that the holes in the filter-holder where the coffee emerges are blocked; if so, clean them out. Lastly, the nozzle of the espresso boiler might be clogged. In this case, perform the cleaning procedure described in the manual section “Cleaning the boiler nozzle”.

Also, make sure the tank is properly inserted and the valve on its base is open. You may need to press the tank lightly to open the valve.

      Monique MartinAug 20, 2025
If the milk is not frothing when making a cappuccino with your DeLonghi Coffee Maker, ensure the milk is cold enough by using milk at fridge temperature. Also, check if the milk-frother is dirty and carefully clean the small holes, particularly those indicated in fig. 27.

Why is the coffee from my DeLonghi Coffee Maker thin and pale?
    • C
      carly42Aug 25, 2025
If the consistency of the coffee from your DeLonghi Coffee Maker is thin and pale, and it emerges rapidly from the spout, several factors could be the cause. Ensure the ground coffee is tamped down a bit harder. Also, verify that you are using a sufficient quantity of ground coffee. Only use ground coffee specifically for espresso coffee machines. If none of these resolves the issue, consider changing the type of ground coffee you are using. Also, make sure that you are using the correct amount of coffee. If the nozzle of the espresso boiler is clogged up, carry out a cleaning operation as described in the chapter “Cleaning the espresso boiler nozzle”. Finally, ensure the filter is not blocked by performing a cleaning operation as outlined in the paragraph “Cleaning the filter”.

Why is my DeLonghi Coffee Maker espresso coffee cold?
    • K
      Keith RichAug 31, 2025
If the espresso coffee from your DeLonghi Coffee Maker is cold, there could be a few reasons. First, make sure the OK light for espresso is on before pressing the coffee supply switch; if it's not, wait for it to illuminate. Another reason might be that the pre-warming operation was not performed. Also, remember to pre-warm the cups with hot water or leave them on the cup-warming shelf for at least 20 minutes.

What to do if espresso coffee drips from the edge of the filter-holder on my DeLonghi BCO420 Coffee Maker?
    • W
      washingtonaustinSep 4, 2025
If the espresso coffee drips from the edge of the filter-holder instead of through the holes in your DeLonghi Coffee Maker, ensure the filter-holder is correctly connected and turned forcibly downwards. If the issue persists, the washer on the espresso boiler may have lost its elasticity, requiring a replacement from your Service Centre. Also, check if the holes in the filter-holder nozzles are blocked and clean them if necessary.

Why does my DeLonghi BCO420 coffee taste acidic?
    • J
      Joshua GrantSep 7, 2025
If the filter or espresso coffee from your DeLonghi Coffee Maker has an acidic flavor, it may be due to insufficient rinsing after the de-scaling operation. Rinse the appliance as described in the chapter “De-scaling of the filter section” or “De-scaling of the espresso section”.
