Function Description
The De'Longhi ECAM45.76X is a fully automatic bean-to-cup espresso and cappuccino machine designed for household use. It allows users to prepare a variety of coffee and milk-based drinks, including espresso, cappuccino, caffelatte, latte macchiato, and hot milk, directly from coffee beans or pre-ground coffee. The machine features a touch screen display (B13) that guides the user through various operations and settings. It includes an integrated coffee grinder with adjustable settings (A5) to customize the fineness of the grind. The machine also has a milk container (D) with an adjustable froth dial (D1) for preparing frothed milk for cappuccinos and other milk-based beverages. Hot water and steam can also be dispensed through a dedicated nozzle (A8, C6). The appliance performs automatic preheat and rinse cycles upon startup and shutdown to ensure optimal performance and cleanliness.

Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the machine's longevity and performance:
- Rinsing Function: An internal circuit cleaning function that dispenses hot water from the coffee and cappuccino maker spouts.
- Descaling: The machine prompts for descaling when necessary. Only De'Longhi descaler (C3) should be used. The descaling procedure involves emptying the water tank (A16), removing the water softener filter (C4) if present, adding descaler solution, and then performing a series of rinses.
- Water Hardness Setting: Users can measure their water hardness using the provided indicator paper (C1) and set the corresponding level in the machine to optimize descaling frequency.
- Water Softener Filter (C4): Certain models include a water softener filter to reduce limescale buildup. The filter needs to be installed, activated, and replaced periodically (every two months or three weeks if unused). The machine will display "REPLACE FILTER" when it's time for a change.
- Cleaning the Milk Container (D): The milk container, lid (D2), spout (D5), and intake tube (D4) should be cleaned thoroughly with hot water and mild washing-up liquid every two days. All components are dishwasher safe (top basket). The froth adjustment dial seat and grooves should also be cleaned.
- Cleaning the Hot Water/Steam Connection Nozzle (A8): Should be cleaned with a sponge after each milk preparation.
- Cleaning the Spout after Use (C6): The cappuccino maker/hot water spout should be cleaned after each use to prevent milk residue buildup. This involves dispensing hot water, then disassembling and washing the spout components.
- Cleaning the Coffee Grounds Container (A10) and Drip Tray (A12): These components must be emptied and cleaned when the "EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER" message is displayed, or every 72 hours. The drip tray has a water level indicator (A13) to prevent overflow.
- Cleaning the Condensate Tray (A9): Should be checked and emptied if necessary.
- Cleaning the Water Tank (A16): Should be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth and mild washing-up liquid.
- Cleaning the Coffee Spouts (A7): Should be cleaned regularly with a sponge or cloth, and any blocked holes cleared with a toothpick.
- Cleaning the Pre-ground Coffee Funnel (A4): Should be checked monthly for blockages and cleaned with the provided brush (C5).
- Cleaning the Infuser (A15): The infuser, accessible behind the infuser door (A14), must be cleaned at least once a month. It should be removed, soaked in water, rinsed, and any coffee residues in its housing removed with the brush (C5). The infuser should not be cleaned with washing-up liquid.
- Internal Circuit Cleaning: If the appliance is not used for 3-4 days, it's recommended to perform rinse cycles and dispense hot water before using it again.
- General Cleaning: Do not use solvents, abrasive detergents, or alcohol. No metal objects should be used to remove encrustations. The machine should be unplugged before cleaning internal parts.
