This document describes the De'Longhi HSX2320 Series convector heater, a Class II appliance designed for household use.
Function Description:
The De'Longhi HSX2320 Series convector heater is designed to provide heating for rooms. It operates by drawing in air, heating it, and then releasing it to warm the surrounding space. The appliance features multiple power settings and a thermostat to regulate room temperature. Some models are equipped with a fan for more rapid and uniform heating. It is intended for use on the floor and should not be used to dry laundry or in rooms smaller than 4 m². The heater is equipped with a safety cutoff device that switches the appliance off in case of accidental overheating.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Power Supply and Consumption: Refer to the appliance rating plate for specific power supply and consumption details.
- Electrical Connection (UK Only):
- If fitted with a plug, it incorporates a 13 Amp fuse. If the plug does not fit the socket, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted. The cut-off plug should be disposed of carefully after removing the fuse to prevent shock hazards.
- For alternative plugs without a fuse, the circuit must be re-fitted with a 13 Amp Asta approved fuse to BS 1362.
- If the fuse cover is lost, the plug must not be used until a replacement fuse cover is obtained. The correct replacement fuse cover colour is marked on the base of the plug.
- If the appliance is not fitted with a plug, the mains lead wires are coloured: Blue (Neutral, N, or black) and Brown (Live, L, or red).
- As a Class II appliance, if using a 3-pin plug, no wire should be connected to the "earth" terminal.
- Minimum Distances: The appliance must be positioned at a minimum distance of 80 cm from curtains or other movable objects sensitive to heat. Minimum distances from walls are specified in Figure 3, with 500mm from the top, 800mm from the side, and 200mm from the front and back.
- Operating Temperature: The appliance can maintain a room temperature of about 5°C in freezing protection mode.
Usage Features:
- Assembly of the Feet:
- Tools required: PH2x100 crosshead screwdriver and 2 supplied screws (3.5x13 PH).
- Place the appliance on a stable surface.
- Insert the two hooks of the foot into the slots and rotate until engaged (Figure 1).
- Insert the two pins into their respective holes.
- Fix the foot with the supplied screw (C) (Figure 2).
- It is crucial never to use the appliance without the feet attached.
- Operation and Use:
- To switch on, turn the thermostat knob (B) clockwise to maximum position 6.
- Press the switches (A) to select power levels:
- MIN: Press the MIN button (red LED lights up).
- MED: Press the MED button (red LED lights up).
- MAX: Press both MIN and MED buttons.
- Models with Fan: The fan activates when MED or MAX power is selected, providing faster and more uniform heating.
- Adjusting the Thermostat: Once the desired room temperature is reached, slowly turn the thermostat knob (B) anticlockwise until a click is heard and the LEDs of the switches go out. The thermostat will then automatically maintain the temperature. Using minimum power in milder conditions can save energy.
- Freezing Protection: With the thermostat knob (B) set to the snowflake symbol (*) and a power level selected, the appliance will maintain a room temperature of approximately 5°C, preventing freezing with minimal energy consumption.
- To Turn Off: Press both switches to OFF (red LEDs go out), rotate the thermostat (B) to the snowflake symbol (*), then remove the plug from the power socket.
- Safety Warnings:
- Do not place the appliance directly below a power socket.
- Do not use near baths, wash-basins, showers, or swimming pools.
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service centre, or an expert.
- Do not cover the appliance during operation to avoid overheating.
- Avoid using extension leads as they can overheat.
- Only use the heater in an upright position.
- The appliance must be positioned at least 80 cm from heat-sensitive objects like curtains.
- Do not obstruct the hot air outlet grille or the air intake grille.
- Ensure the plug and power socket are easily accessible after installation.
- Do not use in rooms smaller than 4 m².
- This appliance must not be powered through an external timer to avoid accidental reset of the safety system.
- Do not use in small rooms occupied by persons unable to leave on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
- The plug may become warm during use, which is normal for a high-power heating appliance. Regularly check the plug and socket, especially during prolonged use.
- Children Safety:
- Children aged 8 years and older, and persons with reduced physical, mental, or sensory capacities, or lack of experience/knowledge, can use the appliance if supervised or instructed on safe use and understanding of hazards.
- Children must not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.
- Children under 3 years old must be kept away unless continuously supervised.
- Children between 3 and 8 years old may only switch the appliance on/off if it is in its normal operating position, they are supervised, instructed on safe use, and understand hazards. They must not insert the plug, adjust, clean, or perform maintenance.
- Some parts of the appliance can become very hot and cause burns; particular attention is needed when children and vulnerable persons are present.
- First Use: The appliance may emit smells during its first use. It is advisable to run it for at least 15 minutes with the thermostat at maximum setting and then ventilate the room. A little smoke may also be emitted due to protective substances on the heating element.
- Placement: Do not position on deep-pile carpets or rugs to avoid obstructing the air intake grille.
- Efficiency: Position the device away from draughts for greater efficiency.
Maintenance Features:
- General Maintenance:
- Before any maintenance, disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool down completely.
- No particular maintenance is required.
