The turntable component of the KM837 is engineered for playing vinyl records at multiple speeds. Users can select between 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM settings using the SPEED CONTROL SWITCH, accommodating a wide range of record types. To initiate playback, the user must first activate the unit by rotating the ON/OFF-VOLUME ROTARY KNOB to the ON position and then select the PHONO mode via the FUNCTION SWITCH. To stop playback entirely, the STOP BUTTON is pressed, and the play mode indicator turns off.
The CD player also includes advanced navigation and playback features. Users can skip forward or backward between tracks using the SKIP FORWARD and SKIP REVERSE buttons. To search within a track, the F.SKIP BUTTON or B.SKIP BUTTON can be pressed and held; releasing the button at the desired point resumes playback. The repeat playback function offers two modes: single track repeat and all tracks repeat. To repeat a single track, the user selects the desired track, presses the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON to play it, and then presses the REPEAT BUTTON once, which activates the single track repeat and causes the REPEAT INDICATOR to flash. For repeating all tracks, the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON is pressed to start the track, and the REPEAT BUTTON is pressed twice, activating the all tracks repeat function and keeping the indicator on. The repeat function can be deactivated by pressing the REPEAT BUTTON until the indicator turns off, or by opening the CD door.
A programmed playback feature is also available for the CD player, allowing users to create custom playlists of up to 20 tracks. To program tracks, the PROGRAM BUTTON is pressed, which displays "01" and flashes the PROGRAM INDICATOR. Tracks are selected using the F.SKIP BUTTON or B.SKIP BUTTON, and then stored by pressing the PROGRAM BUTTON again. This process is repeated for additional tracks. Programmed playback is started by pressing the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON, which illuminates the program indicator. To erase the programmed sequence, the STOP BUTTON is pressed twice or until the PROGRAM INDICATOR turns off.
The radio function of the KM837 supports both AM and FM bands. To operate the radio, the FUNCTION SWITCH is set to RADIO mode, and the desired band (AM or FM) is selected using the AM/FM BAND SWITCH.
