TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
MANY COMMON PROBLEMS CAN BE SOLVED EASILY BY UTILIZING THE CHARTBELOW.

making any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or accessories. An accidental start‑up can causeinjury.

SYMPTOM CAUSE FIX
Motor does not
run with trigger
depressed
Trigger lock‑off in lockedposition. Unlock triggerlock.
Tool is stalled, locking the motor fromrotating.
Rotate the stall release lever on the tool and the
mechanism will release. If driver blade does not return,
remove battery and manually push driver blade back to
homeposition.
Tool internal electronics need to bereset. Remove battery, wait 3seconds andreinsert.
Motor stops running after 5seconds. Normal operation, release trigger andredepress.
Terminals are dirty ordamaged. Contact a DeWALT authorized servicecenter.
Damaged internalelectronics. Contact a DeWALT authorized servicecenter.
Damagedtrigger. Contact a DeWALT authorized servicecenter.
Battery ishot. Let the battery cool or replace it with a coolpack.
Tool ishot. Let the tool cool down before continuinguse.
Motor does not
run with contact

Remove battery, clear jammed nail, cycle stall release lever, (push
driver blade up manually if necessary) reinsert batterypack.
Damaged driver/returnassembly. Replace driver/return assembly. Contact a DeWALT
authorized servicecenter.
Jammed internalmechanism. Contact a DeWALT authorized servicecenter.
Damaged internalelectronics. Contact a DeWALT authorized servicecenter.
Motor starts up
but generates a
lot of noise
Jammed nail and driver blade is stuck in
downposition.
Use stall release lever, clear any jammed nails, and return
driver blade manually ifnecessary.
Damaged driver/returnassembly. Replace driver/return assembly. Contact a DeWALT
authorized servicecenter.
