Important Safety Instructions
Read all warnings and instructions in this manual, on the unit, and in the battery and
charger manual. Be familiar with the controls and the proper usage of the equipment.
Save these instructions.
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD
Use only non-flammable or water-based materials, or
non-flammable paint thinners. Do not use materials
having flash points below 100°F (38°C). This includes,
but is not limited to, acetone, xylene, toluene, and
naphtha. For more information about your material,
request Safety Data Sheet (SDS) from the supplier.
Use oil-based materials outdoors or in a well-ventilated
indoor area with a flow of fresh air.
Spraying certain materials may cause static build-up in
the sprayer that can result in static shock to the user. If
this occurs, the material likely contains a flammable
solvent that can build up static and result in a fire or
explosion. Switch to an alternative material.

Overview

The Graco Cordless HandHeld Airless Sprayer is a portable, battery-powered device designed for applying water-based and oil-based architectural paints and coatings. It offers a convenient and efficient solution for various painting tasks, eliminating the need for cords and allowing for greater mobility on job sites.

Function Description

The primary function of this device is to atomize and spray paint or coatings onto surfaces using airless technology. Unlike traditional air sprayers that use compressed air to atomize paint, an airless sprayer uses high pressure to force the paint through a small tip, breaking it into fine droplets. This method results in a more uniform and smoother finish, with less overspray and faster application times.

The sprayer is powered by a DEWALT 20V Max Li-ion compact battery pack, providing cordless operation. It features a Smartcontrol system, which likely regulates pressure and flow for consistent performance. The device includes a pump assembly, responsible for generating the high pressure required for airless spraying. Paint is drawn from a FlexLiner cup, which is a disposable liner system that simplifies cleanup and allows for spraying at various angles, even upside down. The sprayer is equipped with a spray tip guard and interchangeable spray tips (FFLPxxx and TCPxxx families) to accommodate different types of coatings and desired spray patterns. A prime pump/spray knob allows the user to switch between priming the system and engaging the spray function.

Usage Features

The Graco Cordless HandHeld Airless Sprayer is designed for ease of use and versatility. Its cordless nature makes it ideal for small to medium-sized projects, touch-ups, and areas where access to power outlets is limited.

  • Portability: Being handheld and battery-powered, the sprayer offers excellent maneuverability, allowing users to move freely around the work area without being tethered by power cords.
  • Material Compatibility: The sprayer is compatible with water-based and oil-based (mineral spirit-type) non-flammable architectural paints and coatings. It is crucial to verify material compatibility by checking the container label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for flash points and solvent types. Flammable materials with flash points below 100°F (38°C) are strictly prohibited.
  • FlexLiner System: The FlexLiner cups (available in 32 oz and 42 oz sizes) are a key feature for user convenience. These disposable liners eliminate the need to clean the paint cup itself, significantly reducing cleanup time. They also allow for spraying in any direction, including overhead, by simply squeezing the liner to maintain paint flow to the pump.
  • Interchangeable Spray Tips: The availability of different spray tip families (FFLPxxx for fine finish low pressure and TCPxxx for TC Pro) allows users to select the appropriate tip for their specific material and desired finish. This ensures optimal atomization and spray pattern for various applications, from thin stains to thicker paints.
  • Pressure Control: While specific controls are not detailed, the "Smartcontrol" system suggests intelligent pressure regulation, which is vital for achieving consistent results and adapting to different material viscosities.
  • Safety Features: The manual emphasizes several safety precautions, including the use of a spray tip guard, proper ventilation, and the avoidance of flammable materials. The device is designed with safety in mind, but user adherence to instructions is paramount.
  • Operational Video Support: An operational video is available online, providing visual guidance on how to use the sprayer, which can be particularly helpful for new users.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is essential for the longevity and optimal performance of the Graco Cordless HandHeld Airless Sprayer. The design incorporates features that facilitate cleaning and part replacement.

  • Easy Cleanup with FlexLiner: The FlexLiner system greatly simplifies cleanup. After spraying, the used liner can be easily removed and disposed of, minimizing the amount of paint residue within the sprayer's internal components. This reduces the need for extensive flushing of the paint cup.
  • Pump Armor: The manual mentions "Pump Armor," a product designed to protect the sprayer's pump from corrosion and freezing during storage. This is a crucial maintenance item for extending the life of the pump assembly.
  • Repair Kits and Replaceable Parts: The parts list indicates that many components are available as repair kits or individual replacements. This includes the pump assembly, outlet valve repair kit, tip seat and seal kit, and various O-rings. This modular design allows users to replace worn or damaged parts rather than needing to replace the entire unit, contributing to cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Filter System: The presence of pump filters (60 mesh and 100 mesh) helps prevent clogs and ensures a smooth spray. These filters are replaceable, and regular inspection and replacement are part of routine maintenance.
  • Access to Components: The exploded view diagram shows that key components like the pump, motor, and Smartcontrol enclosure are accessible, suggesting that routine maintenance and part replacement can be performed by the user or a service technician.
  • Warning Labels: The availability of replacement warning labels, tags, and cards ensures that critical safety information remains visible and legible throughout the life of the product.
  • Technical Support: Graco offers technical support via phone and website, providing resources for troubleshooting and maintenance guidance.

In summary, the Graco Cordless HandHeld Airless Sprayer is a user-friendly, portable, and efficient tool for applying paints and coatings, designed with features that prioritize ease of use, material versatility, and simplified maintenance.
