Overview

This document is the owner's manual and safety instructions for the Diamondback 7" Wet Benchtop Tile Saw, model 57087. It provides comprehensive information on the saw's functions, technical specifications, setup, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety throughout.

Function Description:

The Diamondback 7" Wet Benchtop Tile Saw is designed for cutting various tile and man-made masonry products. It operates as a wet saw, utilizing a water reservoir to keep the blade cool and minimize dust during cutting, which is crucial for extending blade life and ensuring cleaner cuts. The saw features a 7-inch blade and a 5/8-inch arbor size. It is equipped with a rip fence and miter gauge for precise straight and angled cuts, including cross cuts, 45° diagonal cuts, miter cuts, and bevel cuts (22.5° and 45°). A blade guard and riving knife are integrated to enhance safety during operation by preventing kickback and ensuring proper kerf maintenance. The saw's benchtop design makes it suitable for various work environments, and it includes a carrying handle for portability. A safety key is incorporated into the power switch, preventing unintentional starting and enhancing user safety.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Electrical Rating: 120VAC / 60Hz / 6.5A
  • Motor No Load Speed: 3450 RPM
  • Max. Blade Diameter: 7"
  • Arbor Size: 5/8"
  • Power Cord: Equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug for 110-120 VAC grounded outlets.

Usage Features:

  • Safety Key: The power switch requires a safety key to operate, preventing accidental startup. The manual advises removing and storing the key separately after use, especially out of children's reach.
  • Wet Cutting System: Features a water reservoir with a fill line and an overflow drain. The water system keeps the blade cool and reduces dust, requiring the reservoir to be filled before each use and maintained above the minimum fill line during operation to prevent blade damage.
  • Rip Fence: Adjustable for setting desired cut widths, secured by a locking lever. It includes a scale for precise measurements.
  • Miter Gauge: Used for making angled cuts. It slides along the rip fence and can be adjusted to specific angles using an angle scale and secured with a gauge lock knob.
  • Bevel Table: Allows for bevel cuts at 22.5° and 45°. The table can be lifted, and bevel legs pulled out to rest on ledges at the far end of the reservoir to achieve these angles.
  • Blade Guard and Riving Knife: Essential safety components that must be in place and working correctly during all operations. The riving knife aligns with the saw blade to prevent the kerf from closing and causing kickback. The blade guard slides over the riving knife and is adjustable for height.
  • Workpiece Support: Emphasizes the importance of supporting the workpiece firmly against the table and fence at all times to prevent kickback and ensure accurate cuts. Freehand cutting is explicitly prohibited.
  • Extension Cord Guidelines: Provides a table for recommended minimum wire gauge for extension cords based on length and ampere rating to prevent power loss and overheating. It also advises using outdoor-rated, undamaged 3-wire extension cords with grounding plugs and receptacles.
  • Drip Loop: Instructions for positioning the saw and cord to create a drip loop, preventing water from reaching electrical outlets or connections.
  • GFCI Protection: Recommends using Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected circuits or outlets for added safety against electric shock.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pre-Use Inspection: Before each use, users are instructed to inspect the tool for loose hardware, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, damaged electrical wiring, and any other condition affecting safe operation.
  • Post-Use Cleaning: After each use, external surfaces, rails, the water tray (including emptying sediment and water), and the pump filter and housing should be cleaned.
  • Dust Removal: Periodically, users should wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and NIOSH-approved breathing protection and use dry compressed air to blow dust out of the motor vents.
  • Blade Alignment: If the blade is out of alignment or the table does not slide smoothly, professional servicing by a qualified technician is recommended.
  • Cord Replacement: A damaged supply cord must be replaced only by a qualified service technician.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: Includes a table outlining common problems, possible causes, and likely solutions, such as checking power connections, replacing worn blades, and addressing motor issues.
  • General Maintenance: Emphasizes keeping tools sharp and clean, following lubrication instructions, and changing accessories as needed. It also warns against using damaged equipment and advises having problems corrected by a qualified technician if abnormal noise or vibration occurs.
