Start by checking the carburetor settings, paying close attention to the High End Mixture Needle Valve. Ensure that the propeller size matches the specifications for your DLA engine. Overheating can also cause this issue, which may indicate that the gas:oil mixture is too lean (not enough oil). Inspect the ignition timing and confirm that you're using the correct size muffler. Finally, double-check that you're using the correct gas:oil mixture.

  If your DLA Engine runs rough and vibrates strongly, there are several things you can check: 1. Check the propeller balance. 2. Balance the propeller if needed. 3. Check the engine to firewall mounting bolts for security. 4. Check the tank to engine plumbing for air leaks. 5. Inspect the sparkplug for carbon build-up, which could indicate the gas:oil mix is too low or too rich with oil. 6. Check the sparkplug gap. 7. Ensure all bolts are tight and secure. 8. Make sure the engine is not mounted in a bias, ensuring the crankcase isn't twisted by mounting misalignment and the ends of the stand-offs are in the same plane.

  To fix a DLA Engine that's flooded with fuel: 1. Turn the kill switch to the OFF position. 2. Remove the sparkplug. 3. Blow out and dry the plug electrodes. 4. Turn the engine so the cylinder head points down to drain the fuel. 5. Rotate the propeller around several times. 6. Replace the sparkplug and restart the engine.

Why DLA Engine starts after being choked but stops soon thereafter?

  If your DLA engine starts after being choked but stops soon after, the low mixture valve may be too lean. To correct this, richen the mixture by turning the valve counter-clockwise. Adjust the Low End Mixture needle valve to achieve a smooth idle and a reliable transition to high throttle. If the engine stutters or coughs in the mid-range during low to high transition or when the throttle is advanced, the Low End needle, and possibly the High End Needle valve, is too lean.
