Overview

The Dometic Traveler Lite® Toilet Model 210 is a fine china toilet designed for recreational vehicle and marine sanitation systems. It is specifically engineered for direct discharge into a holding tank, and its design does not accommodate horizontal pipe runs typically found in conventional residential or commercial plumbing systems.

Function Description:

The Traveler Lite toilet serves as a compact and efficient waste disposal unit. It operates by flushing waste directly into a holding tank, utilizing a foot-operated flush lever. The toilet is designed to conserve water while ensuring effective waste removal and bowl cleaning. It requires a continuous water supply for operation and relies on a mechanical seal system to prevent odors and leaks. The toilet's design emphasizes ease of use, maintenance, and integration into existing sanitation systems.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: Traveler Lite® Toilet Model 210
  • Construction: Fine China Bowl
  • Connection Type: 2-bolt connection for installation.
  • Water Supply: Connects to a 1/2" MPT inlet water valve.
  • Minimum Water Flow Rate: Requires a minimum of two gallons per minute (7.6 liters per minute) at the toilet for proper rim and bowl wash.
  • Flush Mechanism: Foot-operated flush lever with a mechanical seal system.
  • Seal Type: Features a rubber bowl seal and a flush ball seal.
  • Dimensions (Approximate): While specific dimensions are not provided in the manual, the design suggests a compact footprint suitable for RVs and boats.
  • Mounting: Secured to the floor flange with bolts and additional wood screws at the rear of the base.
  • Vacuum Breaker: Integrated into the rear of the toilet bowl to prevent backflow into the potable water system.

Usage Features:

  • Water Addition: To add water to the toilet bowl, the flush lever is lifted or raised until the desired water level is reached. More water is typically needed when flushing solids.
  • Flushing: To flush, the lever is pushed all the way down until the bowl contents are cleared. The duration of holding the lever down (4-8 seconds) may vary depending on water pressure.
  • Sealing: Releasing the flush lever allows it to snap back, ensuring a positive seal around the flush ball. A small amount of water should remain in the bowl after flushing.
  • Water Conservation: Users are advised not to hold the flush lever down longer than necessary to avoid excessive water usage.
  • Pedal Cover: The flush pedal is equipped with a removable cover for easier access during installation and maintenance. It snaps back into place after removal.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: The toilet should be cleaned regularly for sanitation and operational efficiency.
  • Approved Cleaners: Only SeaLand® Bowl and Seal Cleaner or Bar Keepers Friend® cleanser are recommended for cleaning the bowl. Caustic chemicals, such as drain-opening types or chlorine bleach, must not be used as they can damage the seals.
  • Seal Cleaning: Periodically, the rubber bowl seal should be cleaned to prevent mineral buildup from hard water, which can cause slow water leakdown from the bowl. This involves applying cleaner to a seal cleaning tool (supplied with the toilet), opening the flush ball, and scrubbing under the seal.
  • Winterizing (Draining Method):
    1. Flush the system thoroughly with fresh water.
    2. Empty the holding tank.
    3. Shut off the water supply to the toilet and remove the inlet waterline.
    4. Press the flush lever until all water is drained from the toilet. The brass cap on the bottom of the valve should not be removed.
  • Winterizing (Antifreeze Method):
    1. Drain the potable water tank.
    2. Add freshwater-safe antifreeze to the potable water tank.
    3. Flush the antifreeze and water mixture through the toilet into the waste holding tank. The amount needed varies by installation.
    4. Empty the holding tank.
    • Important Note: Only nontoxic antifreeze designated for potable water systems should be used. Automotive-type antifreeze must never be used in freshwater systems.
  • Deodorants and Special Tissue:
    • Regular addition of a deodorant product is required to reduce odors and aid in breaking down holding tank contents. Both liquid and granulated SeaLand® brand deodorants are available, including formaldehyde and non-formaldehyde (Environment-Friendly) options.
    • SeaLand® Rapid-Dissolving Toilet Tissue is specifically designed for low-water toilet systems to prevent clogging, as household tissues often contain adhesives that hinder breakdown.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide covering common issues such as odors, water not staying in the bowl, flush ball not closing/opening, water not shutting off, hand sprayer leaks, water not entering the bowl properly, and leaks from various parts of the toilet (water valve, base, rear of bowl, base/toilet connection). This guide provides possible causes and service instructions for each problem.
