LP Engine G430(3.0L) Base Engine Service Procedure
3. Remove the valve stem keys (1).
4. Remove the cap from the valve spring (2&6).
5. Remove the valve stem oil shield (3).
6. Remove the valve spring (4).
7. Remove the valve stem oil seal (5).
8. Remove the valve (7&8).
IMPORTANT: Place the valves in a rack in the proper
sequence so that you can install them in the same
order.
Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect
Tools Required
• J8089 Carbon Remover Brush
• J9666 Valve Spring Tester
• J8001 Dial Indicator
CAUTION: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye
damage.
1. Use the J 8089 in order to clean the carbon from the
combustion chambers and the valve ports. Be
careful not to scuff the chamber.
2. Clean the following areas:
(1) The carbon and the sludge from the valve
pushrods and the valve rocker arms.
(2) The valve stems and heads on a buffing wheel.
(3) The cylinder head and engine block gasket
surfaces.
(4) The bolt holes and threads in the cylinder head
and the engine block.
