Why is the ram on my DR 6-TON not moving or moving slowly?
    • K
      Kayla LucasJul 30, 2025
If the ram on your DR Log Splitter is moving slowly or not at all, first, ensure that the voltage at the outlet or extension cord connection is at least 105VAC. Also, if using an extension cord, make sure it is less than 33 feet long and no smaller than 12 AWG wire. Other potential causes include an open air bleed screw, a tripped motor reset (push the reset button), accumulated air in the hydraulic system (bleed the system), the splitter not being on a level surface, low hydraulic fluid (check and adjust the level), extreme high temperature and heavy rapid use (allow the machine to cool), or wood that is too hard or knotty.

What to do if my DR 6-TON Log Splitter fails to split logs?
    • P
      Phillip HallAug 12, 2025
If your DR Log Splitter fails to split logs, first check the possible causes for the ram operation. Ensure the log is positioned flat on the splitting beam, squarely against the ram face and splitting wedge. Verify that the log does not exceed the maximum length of 20 inches and a maximum diameter of 16 inches. Also, inspect the wedge for burrs or nicks, and sharpen if needed. If you suspect a hydraulic fluid leak, look for it under the machine using a piece of cardboard.
