You may only remove detector from backplate to replace batteries if not serviced by installer.
When replacing the batteries, follow the instructions specified within the Installation Instruc-

ations or repainting, contact your installer and ask that the unit be temporarily removed until
work is complete.

Everyfire isdifferent in the amount of smoke produced and the rate of burning. Smoke detectorscannot sensealltypesof fires
equallywell. Smoke detectorsmaynot provide timelywarning of firescaused bycarelessnessorsafetyhazardssuch assmoking in
bed, violentexplosions,escaping gas,improperstorage of flammablematerials,overloaded electricalcircuits, children playing with
matchesor arson.
Even ifthe smoke detectoroperatesasintended,there maybe circumstanceswhen there isinsufficient warning to allow alloccu-
pantsto escape intime to avoid injuryordeath.
