Adjusting the rear shock absorber
The rear shock absorber has commands that enable
you to adjust the setting to suit the load on the
motorcycle.
Attention
The shock absorber is filled with gas under
pressure and may cause severe damage if taken apart
by someone who is unskilled.
When carrying a passenger and luggage, set the rear
shock absorber spring to proper preload to improve
motorcycle handling and to keep safe clearance from
the ground (turn ring nuts to set spring preload). You
may find that rebound damping needs adjusting as
well.
The shock absorber is adjusted by electric impulses
sent by the instrument panel to the adjusters inside
the shock absorber body.
Fig 167
For shock absorber adjustment, follow the
description on page 150.
Spring preload: 0.47 in (12 mm).
