Overview

The Dudley Electroflo Urinal Sensor is an advanced, touchless urinal flushing system designed for hygiene, water efficiency, and ease of use. It incorporates infrared sensor technology to detect user presence and automatically activate a flush, ensuring optimal cleanliness and reducing water consumption. The system is suitable for various commercial and public restroom environments.

Function Description:

The Electroflo Urinal Sensor operates by detecting a user within its specified range. Once a user is detected and then leaves the sensor's field, the system triggers the solenoid valve to release a measured amount of water for flushing. This automatic operation eliminates the need for manual flushing, promoting better hygiene by preventing contact with surfaces. The system also includes an automatic hygiene flush feature, which activates every 24 hours to maintain cleanliness even during periods of infrequent use. This ensures that the urinal remains fresh and prevents the build-up of stagnant water or odors. The sensor's intelligence allows for adjustable detection ranges and flush times, providing flexibility to suit different installation requirements and user preferences. It can be powered by either a 9V lithium battery or a transformer, offering versatility in power supply options.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: The system can be powered by a 9V lithium battery (not included) or a transformer, providing flexibility for different installation scenarios.
  • Operating Water Pressure: It operates effectively within a water pressure range of 0.5 to 8 bar (approximately 7 to 116 PSI). For water pressures exceeding 8 bar, a pressure-reducing valve is recommended to ensure optimal performance and prevent damage.
  • Sensor Range: The detection range is adjustable from 300mm to 800mm, with a preset default of 600mm. This allows for customization based on the specific urinal design and restroom layout.
  • Auto Flush: An automatic hygiene flush is performed every 24 hours, ensuring continuous cleanliness and preventing stagnant water.
  • Preset Flush Time: The default flush time is 6 seconds, which can be adjusted to optimize water usage and cleaning effectiveness.
  • Installation Height: The recommended installation height for the sensor is between 1.2m and 1.5m from the floor.
  • Mounting Hole Diameter: A Ø30mm hole is required for mounting the sensor.
  • Backflow Prevention: A CAT.5 backflow prevention device must be fitted downstream of the solenoid valve to comply with fluid category 5 requirements, ensuring water safety.
  • WRAS Approved: The product is WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) approved, indicating compliance with water regulations and standards in the UK.

Usage Features:

  • Touchless Operation: The primary feature is its touchless activation, which enhances hygiene by eliminating the need for physical contact with the urinal.
  • Adjustable Sensor Range: Users or installers can adjust the sensor's detection range (300-800mm) using a remote control (purchased separately) to prevent false activations or ensure reliable detection in various environments.
  • Adjustable Flush Time: The flush duration can be customized to optimize water consumption and cleaning performance, from the preset 6 seconds.
  • Automatic Hygiene Flush: A periodic flush every 24 hours maintains the urinal's cleanliness, especially in low-traffic areas, preventing odors and bacteria growth.
  • Remote Control Functionality: An optional remote control allows for easy adjustment of settings such as sensor range, flush time, and activation of the auto-flush feature. It also includes a "Sensor Off" mode for cleaning purposes.
  • Battery or Mains Power: The option to use either a 9V battery or a transformer provides flexibility in installation, catering to different power availability.
  • Fluid Category 5 Compliance: The requirement for a CAT.5 backflow prevention device ensures the system meets high standards for water safety and prevents contamination.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: For battery-powered units, the blue sensor LED will blink at a constant rate when a user is within range, indicating that the battery needs replacement within two weeks. The battery compartment is designed for straightforward access.
  • Filter Cleaning: The system includes a filter that can be cleaned to maintain optimal water flow and prevent blockages. The process involves turning off the water supply, removing and rinsing the filter, and then reassembling.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting section to address common issues such as the valve not flushing or not shutting off. This includes solutions for incorrect sensor range, dirty solenoid valves, incorrect water pressure, and dirty diaphragms.
  • Solenoid Valve Maintenance: Instructions are provided for cleaning the solenoid valve, including removing the plunger and spring, and using scale remover if necessary. This helps to resolve issues related to the valve not flushing or not shutting off.
  • Sensor Cleaning: The sensor surface should be cleaned with only soap and water, then wiped dry with a clean cloth. Harsh cleansers, steel wool, or abrasive materials should be avoided to prevent damage. The remote control includes a "Sensor Off" function to temporarily disable the sensor for 1 minute during cleaning.
  • Professional Installation for Mains Power: Installation of the mains adaptor must be carried out and checked by a qualified electrician, ensuring safety and correct wiring.
  • Protection During Tile Cleaning: When cleaning bathroom tiles, the taps should be protected from splashing harsh cleansers to prevent damage to the sensor or other components.
