Overview

The DUNE 4WD 3100W Digital Inverter Generator (Model No. D3100INVS) is a portable power source designed for various applications, from powering small household appliances to charging mobile devices. It is a single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 149.8cc, capable of an engine speed ranging from 3300-5000 r/min.

Function Description:

This inverter generator provides a reliable source of AC and DC power. Its primary function is to convert mechanical energy from the engine into electrical energy, which can then be used to power a variety of electrical devices. The "inverter" technology ensures a stable and clean power output, making it safe for sensitive electronics like laptops and televisions. It features multiple output options, including two 240V AC sockets, a 12V DC cigarette lighter socket, and a 5V USB socket, catering to a wide range of power needs. The generator is designed for outdoor use in well-ventilated areas, producing deadly carbon monoxide exhaust, and should never be operated indoors.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: D3100INVS
  • Engine Type: Single cylinder, 4-stroke, 149.8cc
  • Engine Speed: 3300-5000 r/min
  • Oil Tank Capacity: 0.75L
  • Recommended Oil Type: 4 Stroke semi-synthetic or fully synthetic motor oil, SAE 15W-40 (API SN Category)
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 6L
  • Fuel Type: Unleaded 91 Petrol - no ethanol
  • Spark Plug: A7RTC
  • Rated Voltage: 240V AC~50Hz
  • Rated Output: 2700W
  • Maximum Output (Peak/Surge Power): 3100W
  • Rated Current: 11.2A
  • Power Factor: 1.0
  • DC Output: 12V, 5A
  • USB Output: 5V, Max. 2.1A
  • Maximum Temperature/Altitude: 40°C/1000m
  • Spark Arrester: Yes
  • Inverter: Yes
  • Noise Level: 55 - 68 dB (A) at 7m
  • Nett Weight: 28kg
  • Run Time: 3.5 hours at rated power

Usage Features:

  • Portability: Weighing 28kg, the generator is equipped with an extendable handle and wheels for easy transport. The handle can be extended when the generator is level and collapsed when not in use.
  • Fuel Cap Breather: Features a sealable fuel cap vent that can be rotated to "ON" for operation (allowing the fuel to breathe) and "OFF" for storage or transport (to prevent fuel leakage).
  • Fuel Pump Primer: A priming bulb is included to facilitate starting, especially if the fuel tank has been completely empty. Pushing the bulb about 5 times until it appears half full primes the fuel pump.
  • Earthing: The generator must be properly earthed using the supplied earth stake and wire before starting and use to prevent electric shock.
  • Starting Procedure: Involves ensuring the earth stake is attached, turning the fuel cap breather to ON, sliding the choke lever to "CLOSED / START", turning the engine/fuel tap to ON, and then pulling the recoil starter handle briskly until the engine starts. After starting, the choke is moved to "OPEN / RUN".
  • Stopping Procedure: Requires all power leads and appliances to be switched off and disconnected from the generator, allowing the generator to run for 2-5 minutes to cool down, and then turning the engine/fuel lever to "OFF".
  • Economy Switch: This feature allows the generator to use less fuel when loads are less than 1100W. For loads higher than 1100W, the switch should be turned to "OFF".
  • Safety Devices:
    • AC Outlet Circuit Breaker: If the output indicator light goes out and the red overload alarm light glows, the AC power output stops, indicating an overload. The engine continues to run. To reset, remove the appliance, check its wattage, and press the "Power Restart Button".
    • 12V DC Outlet Circuit Breaker: This breaker "pops" out if the attached appliance is faulty or requires more power than the DC output. To reset, remove the appliance, stop the generator, wait 2 minutes, and push the breaker back in.
    • Low Oil Level Indicator Light: A yellow oil light will flicker, and the generator will automatically stop if the oil level in the motor sump drops dangerously low. If the oil level is low, the generator will not start, and the yellow light will flicker when the recoil starter is pulled.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Keep the generator in a clean and dry environment, free from dust, dirt, moisture, or corrosive vapors. Avoid clogging cooling air slots. Do not use a garden hose for cleaning.
  • Oil Check and Fill: The engine is supplied without oil and must be filled before first use. Oil level should be checked daily and before each use. The oil filler cap is located behind an access panel.
  • Fuel Tank Filling: Use unleaded 91 petrol only, avoiding E10 or any ethanol fuel. The fuel tank capacity is 6L. Do not overfill past the bottom of the fuel filter.
  • Spark Plug Maintenance: The spark plug should be properly gapped (0.60mm-0.80mm) and free of deposits for proper engine operation. It should be inspected and cleaned or replaced as needed. The recommended replacement spark plug is A7RTC.
  • Spark Arrester Cleaning: Carbon deposits can block the spark arrester on the muffler, leading to power loss. The spark arrester should be removed and brushed clean.
  • Air Filter Cleaning: For proper performance, the air filter should be kept clean. It can be removed, cleaned with warm, soapy water, rinsed, dried, and lightly coated with engine oil before reinstallation.
  • Draining Engine Oil: The engine oil should be drained periodically. This involves running the generator for 2-3 minutes, stopping it, removing the access panel and oil filler cap, and then tilting the generator to drain the oil.
  • Cleaning Fuel Tank Filter: The fuel tank filter should be lifted out, cleaned, and replaced if broken.
  • Draining Carburettor: For storage longer than one month, the carburettor should be drained of fuel by loosening the drain screw at the end of the drain tube.
  • Storage Procedures: Specific procedures are outlined for storage periods of less than 1 month, 1 to 2 months, 2 months to 1 year, and 1 year or more, including draining fuel from the tank and carburettor, adding engine oil to the cylinder, and reinstalling the spark plug.
  • Maintenance Chart: A detailed chart provides a schedule for pre-operation checks (daily), initial 1 month or 6 hours, every 3 months or 12 hours, every 6 months or 24 hours, and every 12 months or 48 hours for various components like spark plug, engine oil, air filter, fuel tank filter, valve clearance, fuel line, exhaust system, carburettor, and fittings/fastenings.
  • Service Log: Dedicated pages are provided to record service completion dates and details by an authorised service agent.
  • Fault Chart: A comprehensive chart helps diagnose common issues like the engine not starting, low engine output, or erratic engine running, providing probable causes and corrective actions.
