  If your DuroStar Portable Generator's engine won't start, several factors could be the reason. First, make sure the engine switch is set to “run”. Also, check that the fuel valve is turned to “open” and the choke is closed. Ensure the generator has enough fuel and that the fuel isn't old or contaminated; if it is, change the fuel. Inspect the spark plug; if it's dirty, clean it, and if it's broken, replace it. Confirm that the generator is on a level surface. Finally, check the oil level and add or change the oil if needed.

The connected device could be malfunctioning, so try disconnecting it. A dirty air cleaner can also cause this issue; clean or replace the air filter.
