Overview

The EAGLE ECON series Digital Weighing Scale is a high-performance and economical weighing device designed for fast and accurate measurements. Building on over 97 years of weighing scale manufacturing expertise, the ECON Series incorporates High Precision Load Cells and highly reliable electronic boards, first introduced by EAGLE in 1976. This series represents a robust product range with improved reliability, ensuring consistent and dependable operation.

Function Description

The ECON series scales are equipped with a variety of functions to enhance user convenience and cater to diverse applications. Key features include:

  • Counting Function: This allows users to count similar items placed on the scale. The scale offers six fixed sample sizes: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 pieces. To enter the counting mode, place the counted samples on the pan, press the [Func] key until the desired sample size (e.g., "S 10" for 10 pieces) is displayed, and then press the [M] key for confirmation. The scale will then calculate the unit weight and display the number of samples. To recall a previously calculated unit weight, press [Func] until "S Cnt" is displayed, then press [M]. To exit counting mode and return to weighing mode, press [Func] until "S 0" is displayed, then press [M]. If the scale is restarted while in counting mode, it will default to that mode.

  • Liter Conversion: The scale can convert weight measurements into liters. This function uses a user-programmable conversion factor, with a maximum allowed value of 1.000.

  • Password Protected Unit Conversion: This feature provides security for unit conversion settings, preventing unauthorized changes.

  • Weight Accumulation Function: This allows for the accumulation of displayed weights, up to a total of 999,999. When in weighing mode, pressing the [M] key accumulates the current weight. The display will briefly show "[Add xxx]" (where xxx is the number of times weight has been accumulated) and then the accumulated weight, before returning to weighing mode. To view the accumulated weight, press [M] in zero mode (when no weight is on the scale). The display will show "[Add xxx]" and then flash the accumulated weight three times. To clear the accumulated weight, press [ZERO] while the accumulated weight is flashing. The scale will display "[Err-or]" if an attempt is made to accumulate a negative weight. If the accumulated weight exceeds 999,999, the display will show "[tot-of]". If the number of times weight is accumulated exceeds 999, the display will show "[Add-of]".

  • Selectable Display Speed: Users can choose from five different display update speeds (SPd-1 to SPd-5), with SPd-1 being the fastest and SPd-5 the slowest. This setting can be adjusted in the User Parameter Setting Mode.

  • Auto Tare: This function automatically tares the weight of a container once it is placed on the scale and becomes stable for 3 seconds. The tare is automatically removed if the scale goes into a negative value.

  • Peak Hold: This feature displays and holds the maximum weight measured by the scale. Options include:

    • HLd-y (ON): Keeps flashing the maximum weight on the display until the [ZERO] key is pressed after weighing.
    • HLd-n (OFF): Disables the Peak Hold function.
    • HLd-P (Progressive): The maximum weight is kept flashing until a weight greater than the current flashing weight is applied. The displayed weight updates progressively.
  • Auto Sleep: Users can set an auto-sleep time from 01 to 99 minutes. If the scale remains in zero mode for the set time limit, it will enter sleep mode, displaying only the last digit as "0". Setting the sleep time to "00min" disables this function.

  • Zero Locking Counts: This function allows users to select a zero locking range from 01 to 99 counts, meaning the scale will zero within a specified number of divisions. For example, if 10 is selected and the division is 500mg, the zero locking will be up to 5g.

  • Stable Time Setting: The scale offers three stable time settings: Stb-1 (Slowest), Stb-2 (Medium), and Stb-3 (Fastest). This allows users to adjust the stability criteria for measurements.

  • RS-232 Communication Function: This enables the transfer of measuring results to a PC without the need for additional software installation. The scale supports 13 different data formats and three transmission modes (On Pressing COUNT Key, Continuous Transmission, On command "$" from computer). Baud rates of 1200, 2400, 4800, and 9600 are user-selectable. The RS-232 output data can be configured to display Net weight (OUt-N), Gross weight (OUt-G), or Tare weight (OUt-t).

  • Power ON Zero: This function automatically zeros the weight on the scale during power-on if the weight is less than 20% of the scale's capacity. If the weight exceeds 20%, the scale will display "Err 20" and require a restart. If this function is off, the scale will display the actual weight directly when the weight is greater than 20% of capacity.

Usage Features

The ECON series scales are designed for ease of use with intuitive key operations:

  • Zero Key: Used to zero the weight on the scale, operating within 4% of the scale's capacity as per Weights and Measure law. It also functions as a left increment key in setting modes.
  • Tare Key: Used to tare the weight. It also functions as a decrement key in setting modes.
  • M+/MR Key: Used to accumulate data and recall accumulated data. This key also serves as an Enter/Selection key in setting modes.
  • Func Key: Used to enter the counting mode and as an Enter key in various functions. In setting modes, pressing [Func] allows escape to the previous menu or stage.
  • N/G Key: Used to toggle the displayed weight between Net and Gross weight. It also functions as a Left Shift key in setting modes.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and longevity of the EAGLE ECON series Digital Weighing Scale.

  • Placement: The scale should be placed on a firm and level surface, away from direct sunlight, dusty environments, and areas with significant vibration or moisture.
  • Connections: Ensure that the signal source and weighing scale are reliably connected, and the system is well-grounded. The scale should be kept away from strong electric and magnetic fields, as well as corrosive, inflammable, and explosive objects.
  • Cleaning: Avoid using strong solvents such as benzene or nitro-class oils to clean the housing.
  • Protection: Prevent liquids or electricity-conducting particles from entering the scale.
  • Power Management: Always cut off the power supply to the scale and any relevant devices before connecting or disconnecting cables.
  • Output Interfaces: Output interfaces must be used strictly in accordance with the user's manual; no alterations should be made to any connections.
  • Troubleshooting: In case of a malfunction, immediately unplug the scale and send it to the manufacturer for repair. Non-professional repairs are discouraged to prevent further damage.
