Overview

The Easy Rest Adjustable Sleep System is a power foundation designed for residential use, offering customizable sleep positions and massage functions. It is not approved for hospital use and does not comply with hospital standards.

Function Description:

The adjustable bed foundation allows users to independently raise and lower the head and foot sections to achieve various positions, including preset "TV," "Lounge," and "ZG" (Zero Gravity) positions. It also features headrest tilt functionality in the Platinum model. Integrated massage functions are available for both head and foot sections, with multiple intensity levels and modes. A timer allows users to set massage durations for 10, 20, or 30 minutes. Underbed LED lighting and a remote control flashlight are also included. The system can be controlled via a dedicated wireless remote or a smartphone app through Bluetooth connectivity. For larger beds, two bases can be synchronized to operate simultaneously with one remote, or separately with individual remotes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Radio Frequency: 2.4 GHz for wireless remote control.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with Part 15 of FCC Rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts any interference received. No changes to the antenna or device are permitted to maintain FCC RF exposure requirements.
  • Motor Duty Cycle: The motors are designed for intermittent operation, specifically for no more than 2 minutes within an 18-minute period (approximately a 10% duty cycle). Exceeding this rating can shorten the foundation's life and void the warranty.
  • Weight Limits: The product is rated to support weights up to 850 pounds, including the mattress and bedding. This weight must be evenly distributed across the foundation. The head or foot sections alone are not designed to support or lift this amount. Exceeding this limit can cause damage and injury, and will void the warranty.
  • Power Supply: The system requires a power source and uses (2) 9-volt batteries (not included) for the power supply unit and AAA batteries for the wireless remote control. A surge protection device (not included) is recommended to prevent malfunction and ensure safety.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control: Both Premier and Platinum models come with wireless remote controls.
    • Premier Remote: Features buttons for "TV," "Lounge," "ZG" presets, independent head and foot lift/lower, "Flat" preset, "M1" and "M2" memory positions, 10/20/30 minute massage timer, head massage (3 intensities), foot massage (3 intensities), massage modes (5 modes), underbed LED light, and flashlight.
    • Platinum Remote: Similar to Premier but includes "Tilt" functionality for the headrest, allowing for independent headrest tilt lift and lower.
  • Programmable Positions: Users can save two custom head and foot positions using the "M1" and "M2" memory buttons. To set a position, adjust the bed to the desired configuration, then press and hold the "Flat" button, followed by holding the desired memory button (M1 or M2) for 5 seconds until the lights flash.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: The bed can be controlled via a smartphone app (available for iOS and Android). Users need to install the "EasyRest Health & Fitness" app, turn on Bluetooth on their phone, and pair the device by selecting it from the app's device list. The app provides a control center with options similar to the physical remote.
  • Dual Base Synchronization: For split king or queen setups, two bases can be synchronized. First, ensure each remote is paired to its respective base. Then, pair Remote A to Base B to allow Remote A to control both bases simultaneously. To enable Remote B to control both bases, press and hold the head down and foot down buttons on Remote B until its flashlight turns on for 10 seconds. While Remote B's flashlight is on, press and hold the head up and foot up buttons on Remote A. The learning process is successful when Remote B's flashlight starts to flash. To operate beds separately, for Premier models, press and hold the head down and foot down buttons on Remote B. For Platinum models, press and hold the head down and foot down buttons on Remote B. The flashlight will turn on, indicating separation from Remote A.
  • Mattress Retainer Bar: A mattress retainer bar is installed at the foot of the bed to keep the mattress in place during adjustments.
  • Headboard Bracket Installation: Optional headboard brackets allow attachment to most headboards. Installation involves securing the brackets to the bed frame with long bolts and nuts, then attaching T-brackets to the headboard brackets with short bolts and nuts, and finally connecting the headboard to the attachment plates.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: The adjustable base is designed to be maintenance-free. However, it is recommended to periodically check electrical cords and the remote control for any tampering, especially if pets are present.
  • Mattress Care: Easy Rest mattresses are designed with comfort layers that will naturally settle and compress over time, which is normal and not a defect. To minimize body impressions and ensure even wear, rotate the mattress 180 degrees monthly. For Dual System users, periodically move mattresses from one side of the bed to the other. When not in use, keep the bed in the flat position for longer mattress wear.
  • Fabric Cleaning: Spot clean with water-based shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. Avoid over-wetting, solvents, hot water extraction, or steam cleaning. Frequent vacuuming or light brushing with a non-metallic stiff bristle brush is recommended to prevent soiling. Blot spills immediately. Professional cleaning is advised for overall soiled conditions. A mattress pad/protector is recommended.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the remote not activating the bed, no features working, wireless remote not illuminating, or the bed not returning to a flat position. Solutions include checking power connections, reprogramming the remote, replacing batteries, removing obstructions, and ensuring proper headboard clearance.
  • Massage Motor Overheating: If the vibration motor overheats, thermal protection will turn it off. Wait 30 minutes before turning it back on. If the issue persists, contact customer service.
  • Pinch Point Warning: During operation, gaps under the base create pinch points. Users are warned to keep these areas clear of children, limbs, and pets to prevent serious injury.
  • Weight Distribution: Distribute body weight evenly over the bed surface. Avoid placing entire weight on head or foot sections during repositioning or entering/exiting the bed.
  • Liquids: Use caution with liquids around the bed to prevent spills. In case of a spill, unplug the bed immediately, clean the spill, and allow the area to dry thoroughly before using the electric controls again. Do not eat or drink hot liquids while operating the bed.
  • Headboard Bracket Interference: Failure to follow headboard bracket installation instructions may cause interference with base foam during operation, potentially damaging the foam or cover.
  • Surge Protector: A surge protection device (not included) is highly recommended to prevent product malfunction and save on service calls or repairs.
