5. Insert locking tool, allen wrench, or screwdriver,
(E), into gear case. Turn head counterclockwise
to tighten. Remove locking tool, allen wrench, or
screwdriver.

1. Install as shown:
A - Gear case
B - Rapid-Loader Trimmer Head
C - 3/8 in. triangle adapter
D - RL77 – 3/8 in.-24 red right-hand nut

2. Insert locking tool, allen wrench, or screwdriver,
(E), into gear case. Turn head clockwise to tighten.
Remove locking tool, allen wrench, or screwdriver.

Procedure – Stihl Straight Shaft Trimmers
1. Identify the correct trimmer in the Application Fit-
up Chart, see pages 5-6. Locate and record the
RL REF# .
2. Remove the existing trimmer head.Install Rapid
Loader Trimmer Head as shown. Note: Flat,
solid side of large spacer faces the gear case.
A - Gear case
B - Rapid-Loader Trimmer Head
C - Small spacer (marked with letter “J”)
D - RL42 – 3/8 × 1 3/8 in. silver washer
E - RL72 – M10 × 1.0 black left-hand nut
