5. PLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION
Please observe the following general rules:
As a subwoofer, the AMBIT SB110 has been designed to be installed in discrete places.
Low frequencies are considered to be non-directional so the AMBIT SB110 can be perfectly placed
in corners, under a table, behind curtains... that will not notably affect its output. Generally, it should
be known that placing it close to various surfaces will increase its efficiency. Consequently, the
sound pressure level will be higher if you place the speaker on the ground in a corner rather that just
beside a wall and even more that in the centre of a room.
There is no rule governing the number of mid/high speakers per subwoofer. It mainly
depends on the subwoofer location and on the room acoustics. Thus in a highly reflective room, a
subwoofer may even damage intelligibility while several subwoofers could be necessary in a room
with highly absorptive surfaces.
As a general rule, one AMBIT SB110 may be suitable for 4 to 8 AMBIT106 and for 6 to 12
AMBIT103.
Always place the speakers on solid and firm surfaces.
Although the speakers can operate outdoor, they should not be subjected to climatic stress
like sunshine or rain.
Adapt the sound pressure levels to the diffusion needs. In spite of their compact size, the
AMBITs have a quite higher output than domestic speakers.
