Overview

This document describes the Ecowitt WN34BL Temperature Sensor, a device primarily designed for measuring water temperature.

Function Description

The WN34BL is a cabled temperature sensor that measures temperature and transmits readings wirelessly. It is designed to be paired with a GW1000/GW1100 Wi-Fi Gateway or a Weather Station Console (HP2551/HP3500/HP3501) for data viewing and advanced features. When paired with a gateway, the sensor's data can be viewed on the WS View app and uploaded to the Ecowitt Weather Server for online monitoring and email alerts.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Installation: Simple battery installation by removing a screw-secured door on the back of the transmitter. Requires one 1.5V AA battery, with attention to polarity.
  • Sensor Placement:
    • Can be mounted on a wall or wooden beam using a provided screw and bracket. The probe is inserted through the bracket and secured with a Hexagon M12 nut. Users are advised not to overtighten the nut.
    • Can be mounted to a pole (not included) using the provided hose clamp.
  • Sensor Replacement: If replacing an old WN34 sensor on an already configured channel, users can power off the old sensor, power on the new one, and click "Re-register" on the Sensor ID page in the WS View app. The new sensor will be learned, and the old one erased.
  • Durability: IP65 waterproof rating ensures protection against water ingress.
  • Care Note: Users are cautioned not to insert the sensor into corrosive liquids or hard rock to prevent damage.

FCC Compliance:

The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts any received interference. Modifications not expressly approved by the company could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. It has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. Users are advised on measures to correct interference, such as reorienting antennas, increasing separation between equipment, or consulting a technician. For RF exposure compliance, the equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and the user's body, using only the supplied antenna.
