The ECOXGEAR Marine FX Waterproof Bluetooth® Speakers (Models: GDI-EXYMH2XFX) are designed for robust audio playback in various environments, including land and water. These speakers offer a range of features for ease of use, connectivity, and durability.
The Marine FX speakers are primarily designed for wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth. They are waterproof and dustproof, making them suitable for outdoor and marine use. The speakers can operate individually or as a stereo pair using the EcoConnect feature, which allows two units to connect wirelessly for a more immersive sound experience. Each speaker has a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, providing portable power for extended listening.
To begin, users need to open the caps on the bottom of both speakers and turn on the Main Power Switches. After this, pressing the Standby Power Button on the top of each speaker will power them on. The speakers are designed to automatically pair with each other and announce whether they are the Left or Right speaker in a stereo setup. For Bluetooth connection, users search for "ECOXGEAR" on their smart device, and two options will be available; either can be chosen to pair and play audio.
The speakers feature both a Main Power Switch, located under a cap on the bottom, and a Standby Power Button on the top. The Main Power Switch must be in the ON position for the Standby Power function to operate. Pressing the Standby Power Button once turns the unit ON or OFF. For extended periods of non-use, it is recommended to turn the Main Power Switch OFF to preserve battery life.
When powered on, the Marine FX speakers automatically enter Bluetooth search mode, indicated by a flashing blue LED light on the top panel. Users can connect their smart device by enabling Bluetooth and selecting "ECOXGEAR" from the list of available devices. Once connected, the speakers will announce "Connection successful." If the LED is not flashing or if users wish to pair with a new device, pressing and releasing the Bluetooth button on the top panel will put the speakers into pairing mode, and they will announce "Ready to connect." The speakers remember the last paired device and will automatically search for previous connections when turned on or when a device comes back into Bluetooth range. If a connection is lost due to range, the speaker will attempt to re-establish it. If Bluetooth is turned off on the smart device, the speakers may not automatically look for the device. For switching between Bluetooth connections, it is advised to delete the current Bluetooth connection from the connected device's settings.
The EcoConnect feature allows two Marine FX speakers to connect wirelessly for a stereo audio experience. When first turned on, if the speakers do not automatically pair, users can press and hold the Bluetooth button on each speaker for 5 seconds until a tone is emitted. Then, one speaker should be connected to the device via Bluetooth. Next, press the EcoConnect Button on both speakers. They will announce "EcoConnect, pairing speakers." After approximately 4 seconds, they will announce "Speakers paired." One speaker will then announce "Stereo mode, left speaker," and the other "right speaker." The EcoConnect light will turn solid BLUE on both speakers once the connection is complete. This feature works with other EcoConnect-capable speakers up to 30 feet apart and only when Bluetooth is used as the audio source.
For alternative audio input, the speakers include a 3.5mm AUX-IN connection. Users can connect an audio device using a 3.5mm cable. When using AUX-IN, the volume level must be controlled directly from the connected audio device.
The speakers are charged via a USB-C Input. It is recommended to use the provided USB cable and 5V, 2A AC power adapter for optimal charging. The LED on the top panel indicates the USB connection charging status: RED for charging in process and GREEN for a full charge. Additionally, four LED Battery Level Indicators on the top of the unit each represent 25% of a charge, with four full LEDs indicating a complete charge. While charging, these LEDs will flash in succession. The speakers can be charged while playing audio.
The Marine FX speakers are designed to be waterproof, but this is contingent on the cap on the back panel being properly closed. To access connections, the cap must be turned to the LEFT to align with the unlocked symbol, then pulled open using the finger tab. To ensure watertightness, the cap must ALWAYS be closed properly by turning it to the RIGHT until it aligns with the locked symbol. If the cap is not properly closed, the unit is NOT watertight, and water ingress can occur, voiding the warranty.
After use, especially in salt water, the unit should be thoroughly rinsed with tap water. It is crucial to ensure that the cap(s) and covers(s) are clean and free from sand, dirt, or debris before closing them. The rubber seals and gaskets should be periodically checked for premature wear and cleaned with a soft, moist cloth, avoiding oily solvents or chemicals. The unit should be completely dry before opening the cap or attempting to charge. For long-term storage, all caps should be properly sealed to prevent internal moisture damage.
These features collectively ensure that the ECOXGEAR Marine FX speakers provide a durable, high-quality audio experience for various adventures, with clear guidelines for proper use and maintenance to maximize their lifespan and performance.
