5. Possible causes of machine failure
Overloading of the motor and hence triggering of the
overload circuit-breaker may result from:
● An excessively high mains voltage
● Excessively high ambient temperatures and an
insufficient air supply
● Defective compressor valves or a leaking non-
return valve
● A low level of oil, sluggish connecting rod bearings
Leave a.c. motors enough time to cool off before
switching on again. Avoid touching hot components
and pipe lines.
