This document describes the Electrolux EDC2086PDW Tumble Dryer, a household appliance designed for drying fabrics.
The tumble dryer operates by circulating warm air through the laundry to remove moisture. It offers various drying programs tailored to different fabric types and desired dryness levels, including Cotton and Synthetic programs with options for Extra Dry, Strong Dry, Cupboard Dry, and Iron Dry. Specialized programs like Easy Iron, Duvets, Delicates, Wool, Refresh, Time Drying, and Quick are also available to cater to specific laundry needs. The appliance includes a cool down cycle at the end of each program to ensure items are left at a temperature that prevents damage.
The control panel features a program knob for selecting drying cycles, a display for showing program duration and other indicators, and touchpads for various options such as Time, Delay, Delicate, Wool Load, and Start/Pause. An On/Off button controls the appliance's power. Indicators on the display provide information about the current phase (Drying, Cooling, Crease guard), condenser status, water container status, filter status, delay start, child lock, and acoustic signals.
The appliance has a maximum load volume of 8kg, but specific programs may have lower recommended loads. It is designed to be used with fabrics that are suitable for tumble drying, as indicated by fabric care labels.
Before first use, it is recommended to clean the tumble dryer drum with a moist cloth and run a short program with moist laundry.
To start a program, users prepare the laundry by closing zippers and fasteners, removing items from pockets, and ensuring internal cotton layers are external for better drying. The appliance is activated by pressing the on/off button, then the desired program and options are selected using the program knob and touchpads. The display shows the program duration, which varies based on load size and fabric type. The Start/Pause touchpad initiates the program.
A delay start function allows users to postpone the program start from 30 minutes up to 20 hours. This is set by repeatedly pressing the delay start button until the desired time is displayed, then pressing Start/Pause.
At the end of a program, an intermittent acoustic signal operates, and indicators for the filter and water container may flash. The appliance enters a crease guard phase for approximately 30 minutes to prevent creases. Laundry can be removed before this phase is completed, but for best results, it is recommended to wait until the phase is almost finished.
The appliance includes a child lock function to prevent children from interacting with the controls during operation. This is activated by pressing and holding specific touchpads (A and D) simultaneously after activating the appliance. The child lock indicator will illuminate. It can be deactivated by pressing and holding the same touchpads again.
Users can adjust the remaining laundry moisture degree to achieve maximum dry, more dry, or standard dry results. This setting is accessed by pressing and holding specific touchpads (A and B) after activating the appliance, then cycling through the options with the Start/Pause button and confirming the adjustment.
The acoustic signals can be turned on or off by pressing and holding specific touchpads (B and C) simultaneously for approximately 2 seconds.
The appliance also features a stand-by function that automatically deactivates it after 5 minutes of inactivity (either before a program starts or after it ends) to reduce energy consumption.
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the tumble dryer.
Cleaning the filter: The lint filter should be cleaned before or after each use. This involves opening the appliance door, removing the filter, and wiping away accumulated lint. If necessary, the filter can be cleaned with hot water.
Emptying the water container: The water container needs to be emptied when a program is completed, or when the water container indicator illuminates. The condensed water can be used as an alternative to distilled water for steam ironing, but any dirt residues should be filtered out first.
Cleaning the condenser: The condenser should be cleaned periodically. This involves opening the condenser door, removing the condenser cover, and cleaning the condenser itself.
Cleaning the drum: The inner surface of the drum and drum ribs should be cleaned with a moist cloth and a standard neutral soap detergent. Abrasive materials or steel wool should not be used.
Cleaning the control panel and housing: The exterior surfaces can be cleaned with a moist cloth and a standard neutral soap detergent. Furniture cleaning agents or corrosive cleaning agents should be avoided.
Cleaning the airflow slots: Fluff from the airflow slots can be removed using a vacuum cleaner.
Before any maintenance, the appliance must be deactivated and disconnected from the mains supply to prevent injury or electrical shock.
