This document is a user manual for Electrolux cooker hoods, specifically models EFC60246 and EFC90246. It provides comprehensive information on installation, characteristics, usage, and maintenance of the appliance.
Function Description
The Electrolux cooker hood is designed to extract cooking fumes and odors from the kitchen, ensuring a more comfortable and pleasant cooking environment. It can operate in two modes: extraction (ducting) or recycling. In extraction mode, the air is expelled outside through a ducting system. In recycling mode, the air is filtered through charcoal filters and then recirculated back into the kitchen. The hood features a motor with multiple speed settings to adjust the extraction power according to cooking needs, and it also includes lighting to illuminate the cooking area.
Important Technical Specifications
Dimensions:
- Width (L): 600mm (EFC60246) or 900mm (EFC90246)
- Depth: 530mm
- Height (Hood Body): 48mm (front) to 252mm (back)
- Total Height (with chimney): Adjustable, with a minimum installation height of 500mm (electric hob) or 650mm (gas hob) from the cooktop. The chimney sections contribute to the overall height, with the upper chimney section having a height of 370mm and the lower section 300mm.
- Ducting Diameter: Ø 150mm or Ø 120mm (reducer flange included).
Electrical Connection:
- The hood requires a two-pole switch with a contact gap of at least 3mm.
- The feeding cable connector must be correctly inserted in the socket placed on the side of the fan.
Lighting:
- The hood uses 20W halogen lamps for illumination.
Filters:
- Metal Cassette Filters: These are grease filters designed to trap airborne grease particles.
- Charcoal Filter (optional for recycling mode): This filter removes odors from the air before recirculation.
Usage Features
Control Panel:
The hood is operated via a push-button control panel located on the front.
- L (Light): Switches the lighting system on and off.
- S (Led): Indicates that the motor is running.
- V1 (Motor): Switches the extractor motor on and off at a low speed. This setting provides continuous and silent air change, suitable for light cooking vapors.
- V2 (Speed): Medium speed, suitable for most operating conditions, offering an optimum treated air flow/noise level ratio.
- V3 (Intensive): Maximum speed, used for eliminating the highest cooking vapor emission, including for long periods.
Installation Modes:
- Ducting Version: Air is expelled outside. Requires connection to a flexible or rigid pipe of Ø 150mm or Ø 120mm.
- Recycling Version: Air is filtered and recirculated. Requires the installation of activated charcoal filters.
Safety Recommendations:
- The manufacturer is not held liable for any damages resulting from incorrect or improper installation.
- Maintain a minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood (500mm for electric hobs, 650mm for gas hobs).
- Check that the mains voltage corresponds to that indicated on the rating plate.
- Ensure adequate earthing.
- Do not connect the extractor hood to exhaust ducts carrying combustion gases (boilers, fireplaces, etc.).
- If the extractor is used in conjunction with non-electrical appliances (e.g., gas burning appliances), a sufficient degree of aeration must be guaranteed in the room to prevent backflow of exhaust gas.
- Deep fat fryers must be continuously monitored during use; overheated oil can burst into flames.
- Do not flambé under the range hood; risk of fire.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning of the Metal Cassette Filters:
- Filters can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand every 2 months, or more frequently with intensive use.
- To remove, push one filter laterally and simultaneously pull downwards.
- Avoid bending the filters.
- Ensure filters are completely dry before refitting. The color of the filter surface may change over time, but this does not affect efficiency.
- When fitting, ensure they are placed in the correct position and the handle faces outwards.
Replacing the Charcoal Filter (for recycling version):
- This filter cannot be washed or regenerated.
- It must be replaced when the "F" touch control starts to flash, or at least every 4 months. The alarm is triggered when the motor is on.
- Remove the metal grease filters.
- Remove the saturated charcoal filter by turning the fasteners.
- Fit the new filter and fasten it in its correct position.
- Put the metal grease filters back in their seats.
Light Replacement (20W halogen light):
- Remove the snap-on lamp cover by leveraging it from under the metal ring, supporting it with one hand.
- Remove the halogen lamp by pulling gently.
- Replace the lamp with a new one of the same type, making sure the two pins are properly inserted into the housings on the lamp holder.
- Replace the snap-on lamp cover.
The manual emphasizes that Electrolux is committed to providing quality products that enhance user comfort and experience, and encourages users to take advantage of the benefits of their new machine. It also highlights the importance of environmental responsibility, urging users to dispose of the product and its components properly through local recycling services.
