Overview

This document is a user manual for Electrolux Cooker Hood models EFP129X and EFP126X. It provides comprehensive information on safety, installation, daily use, care, cleaning, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Electrolux Cooker Hood is designed for domestic use above hobs, cookers, and similar cooking devices to extract smoke and steam from the cooking area. It operates with a fan that can be set to different speed levels to suit various cooking needs. The hood also includes a lamp to illuminate the cooking surface. It is intended for single household domestic use in an indoor environment and can also be used in offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, farm guest houses, and similar accommodations where usage levels do not exceed average domestic usage.

Usage Features

The cooker hood is operated via a control panel with a retractable knob. The knob allows users to select different functions:

  • Off position: Turns off the appliance.
  • Lamp: Turns on the light to illuminate the cooking surface. The light works with all fan speed functions.
  • First speed: The fan operates at the lowest speed level, recommended for heating up food or cooking with covered pots.
  • Second speed: The fan operates at a medium speed level, suitable for cooking with covered pots on multiple cooking zones or burners, and gentle frying.
  • Third speed: The fan operates at the highest speed level, recommended for boiling and frying large quantities of food without a lid, or cooking on multiple cooking zones or burners.

It is recommended to leave the hood operating for approximately 15 minutes after cooking to ensure complete removal of cooking vapours. The appliance is designed for cooking purposes only and should not be used for other applications.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the cooker hood. The manual outlines several key maintenance tasks:

Cleaning the Appliance:

  • The surface of the appliance should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent to prevent deterioration of the surface material.
  • Abrasive detergents, brushes, steam cleaners, water sprays, harsh abrasive cleaners, or sharp metal scrapers should not be used.
  • After cooking, parts of the appliance may become hot; it should be cooled down and dried with a clean cloth or paper towels to avoid stains.
  • The interior of the appliance should also be cleaned with a cloth.

Grease Filter Cleaning:

  • Grease filters must be cleaned regularly, at least every two months, to remove grease deposits and prevent the risk of fire.
  • The filters are mounted with clips and pins and can be easily removed. To remove, press the handle of the mounting clip on the filter panel, then slightly tilt the front of the filter downwards and pull.
  • Grease filters can be washed in a dishwasher on a low temperature and short cycle. Discolouration of the filter may occur but does not affect performance. Alternatively, they can be cleaned manually using a sponge with non-abrasive detergents.
  • To remount the filters, follow the removal steps in reverse order.

Charcoal Filter Replacement:

  • The charcoal filter is not washable and cannot be regenerated. Its saturation time varies depending on cooking type and grease filter cleaning regularity.
  • It must be replaced approximately every 4 to 6 months of operation, or more frequently for heavy usage.
  • To replace, first remove the grease filters. Then, turn the charcoal filter counterclockwise and pull it out.
  • To mount the new filter, follow the steps in reverse order.

Lamp Replacement:

  • The appliance is supplied with a LED lamp and a separate control gear (LED driver).
  • These parts can only be replaced by a qualified technician. In case of malfunction, users are advised to refer to the "Service" section in the safety instructions.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • Appliance not activating: Check if it's correctly connected to the electrical supply or if the fuse is blown.
  • Lamp not operating: The lamp may be defective and needs replacement.
  • Insufficient vapour absorption: The motor speed may not be adequate for the amount of vapours, requiring an increase in speed.

The manual emphasizes the importance of using original spare parts and contacting an Authorised Service Centre for repairs, providing model, PNC, and serial number information found on the rating plate.
