Overview

This document describes the Electrolux KT6421XE hob, a built-in appliance designed for cooking. It emphasizes safety, proper installation, and efficient use to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Function Description

The Electrolux KT6421XE hob is a radiant heater with four cooking zones, designed to provide efficient and controlled heat for various cooking tasks. It features a glass-ceramic surface with touch controls for easy operation.

Cooking Zones: The hob includes multiple cooking zones, some of which are multi-zone, allowing for adjustment to different cookware sizes. The layout includes:

  • Left front: A multi-zone cooking area (120/175/210 mm)
  • Left rear: A single cooking area (145 mm)
  • Right front: A single cooking area (145 mm)
  • Right rear: A multi-zone cooking area (170/265 mm)

Control Panel: The control panel is operated by sensor fields, with displays and indicators providing feedback on active functions. Key sensor fields include:

  • ON/OFF (①): Activates and deactivates the hob.
  • Lock / Child Safety Device (१): Locks and unlocks the control panel to prevent accidental changes.
  • STOP+GO (STOP+GO): Sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting.
  • Outer Ring Control (◎): Activates and deactivates the outer ring of multi-zone cooking areas.
  • Heat Setting Display: Shows the current heat setting (0-14).
  • Timer Indicators: Show for which zone the timer is set.
  • Timer Display: Shows the time in minutes.
  • Cooking Zone Selector (◷): Selects a specific cooking zone.
  • Time Adjuster (+/-): Increases or decreases time settings.
  • Automatic Heat Up (A): Activates and deactivates the automatic heat-up function.
  • Control Bar: Used to set the heat setting by touching or sliding a finger along it.

Usage Features

The hob offers several features to enhance cooking convenience and safety:

Activating and Deactivating: The hob is activated or deactivated by touching the ON/OFF sensor field for 1 second.

Heat Setting: Heat settings from 1 to 14 can be selected using the control bar. For multi-zone cooking areas, the outer rings can be activated or deactivated to match the cookware size, providing flexibility in cooking.

Automatic Switch Off: For safety and energy saving, the hob automatically deactivates under certain conditions:

  • If all cooking zones are deactivated.
  • If no heat setting is selected after activation.
  • If something spills or is placed on the control panel for more than 10 seconds, an acoustic signal sounds, and the hob deactivates.
  • If a cooking zone is left active without changes to the heat setting for an extended period, indicated by "0" on the display. The duration depends on the heat setting, ranging from 6 hours for low settings (1-3) to 1.5 hours for high settings (10-14).

Automatic Heat Up (A): This function allows for quicker heating by initially setting the cooking zone to the highest heat setting for a short period, then automatically reducing it to the desired setting. It can only be activated when the cooking zone is cold.

Timer Functions:

  • Count Down Timer: Sets a specific operating time (00-99 minutes) for a cooking zone. An acoustic signal sounds and "00" flashes when the time ends, and the zone deactivates.
  • CountUp Timer: Monitors how long a cooking zone has been operating, displaying the elapsed time.
  • Minute Minder: Functions as a separate timer that operates independently of the cooking zones, useful for general kitchen timing.

STOP+GO (STOP+GO): This function pauses all active cooking zones by setting them to the lowest heat setting. It's useful for temporary interruptions during cooking, as it maintains a warm temperature without stopping the timer functions.

Lock / Child Safety Device (१): This feature locks the control panel to prevent accidental changes to settings, especially when cooking zones are active. It can also be activated as a child safety device to prevent unintentional operation of the hob.

OffSound Control: Allows users to deactivate or activate the hob's acoustic signals. When deactivated, sounds are only heard for the Minute Minder, Count Down Timer, or when an object is placed on the control panel.

OptiHeat Control (Residual Heat Indicator): A 3-step indicator (H, h, or -) shows the level of residual heat in a cooking zone after it has been turned off, warning against burns and allowing for energy-efficient use of residual heat.

Öko Timer (Eco Timer): This energy-saving function deactivates the cooking zone heater before the set count-down timer ends, utilizing residual heat to complete cooking.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and cleaning are essential for maintaining the hob's appearance and functionality.

General Cleaning:

  • The hob should be cleaned after each use.
  • Always use cookware with clean bottoms to prevent scratches.
  • Scratches or dark stains on the surface do not affect the hob's operation.
  • Use a special cleaner designed for hob surfaces and a special scraper for glass.
  • The hob must be deactivated and cooled down before cleaning.
  • Avoid using water spray, steam cleaners, abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents, or metal objects.

Specific Cleaning Tasks:

  • Immediate Removal: Melted plastic, plastic foil, and food with sugar should be removed immediately with a special scraper while the hob is still warm to prevent damage.
  • Cool Hob Cleaning: Limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and metallic discoloration should be cleaned with a moist cloth and a neutral detergent after the hob has cooled down. The surface should then be rubbed dry with a soft cloth.

Service and Support: In case of malfunctions or if a solution cannot be found in the troubleshooting section, users should contact an Authorized Service Centre. It is important to provide the model, PNC, and serial number from the rating plate, as well as the three-digit letter code from the glass ceramic surface and any error message displayed. Using original spare parts for repairs is recommended.
