Overview

This document is a user manual for an Electrolux LIT604 hob, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, safe use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

The Electrolux LIT604 hob is an induction cooking appliance designed for domestic use in an indoor environment. It features multiple cooking zones that generate heat directly in the bottom of suitable cookware through an electromagnetic field, ensuring efficient and rapid cooking. The hob is equipped with a glass ceramic surface and a control panel with sensor fields, displays, and indicators to manage its various functions.

Function Description:

The hob offers several key functions to enhance the cooking experience:

  • Activation and Deactivation: The hob can be activated or deactivated by touching the ON/OFF sensor field for one second.
  • Heat Setting: Users can set or change the heat setting by touching or sliding a finger along the control bar, allowing precise temperature control for different cooking needs.
  • Automatic Heat Up: This function allows a cooking zone to operate at its highest setting initially to reach the desired temperature faster, then automatically adjusts to the selected heat setting for continued cooking. It is activated by touching the PowerBoost sensor field and then selecting a desired heat setting.
  • PowerBoost: This function provides extra power to induction cooking zones for a limited period, ideal for quickly boiling large quantities of water or searing food. After the limited period, the zone automatically reverts to its highest regular heat setting.
  • Timer Functions:
    • Count Down Timer: This allows users to set a specific cooking duration for a single cooking zone, ranging from 00 to 99 minutes. An acoustic signal sounds and "00" flashes when the countdown ends, and the cooking zone deactivates.
    • CountUp Timer: This function monitors how long a cooking zone has been operating, displaying the elapsed time in minutes.
    • Minute Minder: This timer can be used independently of the cooking zones when the hob is active but not in use for cooking. It sets a time, and an acoustic signal sounds when the time finishes.
  • Pause Function: This feature sets all operating cooking zones to the lowest heat setting, temporarily pausing the cooking process. All other control panel symbols are locked while Pause is active.
  • Lock Function: This allows users to lock the control panel while cooking zones are operating, preventing accidental changes to the heat settings. The timer functions remain active.
  • Child Safety Device: This function prevents accidental operation of the hob, enhancing safety in households with children. It can be activated and deactivated through a specific sequence of touches on the control panel.
  • OffSound Control: This function allows users to deactivate or activate the acoustic signals (sounds) of the hob, providing flexibility for user preference.
  • Power Management: To prevent exceeding the power supply's limitations, the hob automatically divides available power among active cooking zones. If a phase reaches its maximum electricity loading, the power of some cooking zones will be reduced, prioritizing the last selected zone.
  • Hob²Hood Function: This advanced automatic function connects the hob to a compatible Electrolux hood via an infrared signal. The hood's fan speed is automatically adjusted based on the hob's mode setting and the temperature of the hottest cookware. Users can also operate the fan speed manually from the hob's control panel.

Usage Features:

The hob is designed for ease of use and safety:

  • Intuitive Control Panel: The sensor fields, displays, and indicators provide clear feedback on the hob's operational status and settings.
  • Residual Heat Indicator (OptiHeat Control): A three-step indicator ( , , ) shows the level of residual heat on the cooking zones, warning users of hot surfaces and allowing them to utilize the remaining heat for continued cooking, keeping food warm, or melting.
  • Automatic Switch Off: The hob automatically deactivates under certain conditions, such as when all cooking zones are off, no heat setting is selected after activation, an object is placed on the control panel for too long, the hob overheats, or unsuitable cookware is used.
  • Cookware Compatibility: The hob is specifically designed for induction-suitable cookware made of materials like cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, or stainless steel with a multi-layer bottom. It automatically adapts to the dimension of the cookware's bottom.
  • Noise Management: The manual acknowledges that certain noises (crackling, whistling, humming, clicking, hissing, buzzing) are normal during operation and do not indicate a malfunction.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the hob:

  • Regular Cleaning: The hob should be cleaned regularly after each use to prevent deterioration of the surface material.
  • Cleaning Agents: Use a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents for cleaning. A special scraper is recommended for the glass surface.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents, or metal objects, as these can damage the surface.
  • Immediate Spill Removal: Melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar, and food with sugar should be removed immediately from the hot surface using a special hob scraper to prevent damage.
  • Cool-Down Cleaning: Limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration should be removed once the hob has sufficiently cooled down, using a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent, or a solution of water with vinegar for metallic discoloration.
  • Safety During Cleaning: Always switch off the appliance and let it cool down before cleaning. Do not use water spray or steam cleaners.
