Overview

This document describes the Electrolux LUT5NF20W freezer, a household appliance designed for freezing and storing food. It emphasizes safety, proper installation, and efficient use to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Function Description

The Electrolux LUT5NF20W is a freezer designed for the long-term preservation of fresh, frozen, and deep-frozen food. It operates by maintaining a consistently low temperature, typically around -18°C, to inhibit bacterial growth and preserve food quality. The appliance features a control panel that allows users to adjust the temperature settings and activate special functions like FastFreeze. It is equipped with a refrigerant circuit containing isobutane (R600a), a natural gas with high environmental compatibility, which facilitates the cooling process. The freezer is designed to be frost-free, meaning there is no build-up of frost on internal walls or food, eliminating the need for manual defrosting.

Usage Features

The freezer offers several features to enhance user convenience and food preservation:

Control Panel

The control panel includes a temperature scale, a temperature key, an ECO mode icon, and a FastFreeze icon.

  • Switching On/Off: The appliance is switched on by plugging it into an electrical socket and touching the temperature key. All LED indicators light up, and the default setting (ECO mode) is activated. To switch off, the temperature key must be pressed for 3 seconds until all LEDs turn off.
  • Temperature Regulation: The temperature can be adjusted progressively from -15°C to -24°C by repeatedly pressing the temperature key. The recommended setting for good food preservation is -18°C. The set temperature is reached within 24 hours and remains stored even after a power failure.
  • ECO Mode: This mode sets the temperature to -18°C, which is the optimal setting for good food preservation with minimal energy consumption. It is activated by repeatedly pressing the temperature key until the ECO mode icon lights up.
  • FastFreeze Function: This function is designed for pre-freezing and fast freezing of fresh food. It accelerates the freezing process and protects already stored frozen food from undesirable warming. It should be activated at least 24 hours before placing fresh food in the compartment. The function stops automatically after 52 hours, restoring the previous temperature setting, or can be deactivated manually.
  • Door Open Alarm: If the door is left open for approximately 90 seconds, an audible alarm sounds, and the LED indicator for the current temperature flashes. The sound can be turned off by pressing the temperature key or by closing the door. If not addressed, the sound switches off automatically after about an hour.
  • High Temperature Alarm: An increase in the freezer compartment temperature (e.g., due to a power failure or prolonged door opening) triggers an audible alarm and a flashing LED indicator for the current temperature. The sound can be turned off by pressing the temperature key. If the temperature is restored, the indicator stops flashing. If not addressed, the sound switches off automatically after about an hour.

Food Storage

  • Freezing Fresh Food: To freeze fresh food, the FastFreeze function should be activated at least 24 hours in advance. Fresh food should be stored evenly in the first and second compartments or drawers from the top. The maximum amount of food that can be frozen within 24 hours is specified on the rating plate.
  • Storage of Frozen Food: When using the appliance for the first time or after a period of disuse, it is recommended to run it for at least 3 hours with the FastFreeze function activated before placing products inside. The freezer drawers facilitate easy access to food packages. For large quantities, drawers can be removed to use shelves. Food should be kept at least 15 mm from the door.
  • Thawing: Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator or in a plastic bag under cold water. Small portions may be cooked directly from frozen.
  • Hints for Freezing: Food should be wrapped and sealed in aluminum foil, plastic film, bags, or airtight containers. Dividing food into small portions aids efficient freezing and thawing. Labeling and dating frozen food helps track its shelf life. Only fresh food should be frozen to preserve quality, especially fruits and vegetables. Bottles or cans with liquids, particularly carbonated drinks, should not be frozen. Hot food should be cooled to room temperature before being placed in the freezer. To avoid warming already frozen food, fresh unfrozen food should not be placed directly next to it. Ice cubes, water ices, or ice lollies should not be consumed immediately after removal to avoid frostbite. Defrosted food should not be refrozen; it should be cooked, cooled, and then refrozen.
  • Hints for Storage: The freezer compartment is marked with ****. A temperature of -18°C or lower ensures good preservation. Higher temperatures may shorten shelf life. The entire freezer compartment is suitable for storing frozen food products. Sufficient space around food should be maintained for air circulation. Refer to food packaging labels for shelf life information.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and cleaning are essential for the appliance's performance and hygiene.

Cleaning

  • Interior Cleaning: Before first use, the interior and all internal accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then dried thoroughly, to remove any new product smell.
  • Periodic Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. The interior and accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean regularly to ensure they are free from debris. After cleaning, the interior should be rinsed and dried thoroughly.
  • Caution: Abrasive powders, chlorine, oil-based cleaners, and detergents should not be used as they can damage the finish. Accessories and parts are not suitable for washing in a dishwasher.
