System component description
Control Station Ethernet (RJ-45) NIC ports
The Block and File (Unified) VNX5500 platform 1U Control Station comes with two
integrated dual-port Ethernet ports (labeled A and CS) and two Peripheral Component
Interconnect Express (PCI-E)

low profile card dual-port Ethernet ports (labeled B and
MGMT) in an expansion slot on the rear of the 1U Control Station. These ports (Figure 31
on page 40) provide an interface for connecting to 10-Mb/s, 100-Mb/s, or 1000-Mb/s
networks and provide full-duplex (FDX) capability, which enables simultaneous
transmission and reception of data on the Ethernet local-area network (LAN).
To access the Ethernet ports, connect a Category 3, 4, 5, 5E, or 6 unshielded twisted-pair
(UTP) cable to the RJ-45 connectors on the back of the 1U Control Station, as described in
Table 21.
