The Type R622 is a direct-operated, spring-loaded pressure reducing regulator designed for economical pressure reducing control in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. It is suitable for use with natural, manufactured, or liquefied petroleum gases and offers consistent inlet and outlet pressure capabilities.
The regulator operates by sensing downstream demand. When demand decreases, pressure under the diaphragm increases, overcoming the regulator's spring setting. This action, through the pusher post assembly, lever, and valve stem, moves the valve disk closer to the orifice, reducing gas flow. Conversely, when downstream demand increases, pressure under the diaphragm decreases, allowing the spring force to push the pusher post assembly downward, moving the valve disk away from the orifice and increasing gas flow.
A key feature of the Type R622 is its internal relief valve, which helps minimize overpressure. If outlet pressure exceeds the non-adjustable relief valve spring's start-to-discharge point, the diaphragm moves off the relief valve seat, allowing excess pressure to bleed out through the screened spring case vent.
