The distances between waste air and fresh air openings. Usually fresh air is taken
from a north facing wall and the waste air is led out from the roof.
Other methods are acceptable, so long as they fall within the guidelines laid out by the
Ministry of the Environment’s code of building regulations (D2: Finland 2003, extract
shown below), or in accordance with your local directives and regulations governing indoor
climate and building ventilation.
The diagram shows how to determine the distance between the outside feed into the
house and the waste from the house.
