Overview

The Therapure® TPP630 is a UV air purifier designed to improve indoor air quality through a multi-stage purification process. This device is engineered to effectively clean the air in various environments, including homes and offices, by utilizing UV light and a cleanable HEPA-Type filtration system. The user manual emphasizes the importance of proper operation and regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Function Description:

The Therapure® TPP630 employs a 4-stage purification process to thoroughly clean the air. The first stage involves a cleanable pre-filter, which captures larger particles from the air. Following this, a cleanable HEPA-Type filter targets smaller airborne contaminants, including dust, pollen, and pet dander. The third stage incorporates a UV lamp, which is designed to kill germs, viruses, and bacteria. Finally, a photo catalyst filter works in conjunction with the UV lamp to break down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other harmful pollutants. This comprehensive approach ensures a significant improvement in air quality by addressing a wide range of airborne impurities. The device is designed to operate on a 120V AC, 60Hz power supply.

Usage Features:

Operating the Therapure® TPP630 is straightforward, with user-friendly controls. The device features a control dial that allows users to turn the air purifier on and off, as well as select from three different fan speeds: LOW, MED, and HI. This enables users to choose the desired cleaning level based on their specific needs and the current air quality. The control dial is located on the top of the unit for easy access. An important safety feature is that the unit will not operate unless it is fully assembled, with the inlet grill properly installed and locked into place.

The Therapure® TPP630 also includes a UV/VOC button, which activates the UV lamp and the photocatalyst filter. This allows users to engage the advanced purification stages when needed. For convenience, the device is equipped with a clean filter indicator light. This light turns red when it's time to clean the filter, prompting the user to perform maintenance. To reset the filter indicator after cleaning, the UV/VOC button needs to be held down for 3 seconds, causing the light to flash three times before turning off, signaling that the unit has been reset.

For optimal performance, the air purifier should be placed on a level surface, at least one foot (12 inches) away from walls and curtains, and not near fans. Positioning the unit close to the source of air pollution is recommended for effective indoor air quality improvement. The manual explicitly warns against operating the unit with a broken filter or a broken UV lamp, emphasizing the need for replacement to maintain efficiency and safety.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the Therapure® TPP630 to function properly and maintain its effectiveness. The cleanable HEPA-Type filter should be cleaned approximately every four weeks, or more frequently if the unit is in an environment with high levels of airborne contaminants like smoke or pet dander. To clean the filter, the inlet grill is released by pressing on the locking latch, and the filter is removed by grasping its left and right frames. The filter should be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner with a brush or crevice attachment, running it along both the inlet and outlet sides to remove trapped particles. The manual strictly advises against using water or any household cleaners or detergents to clean the HEPA-Type filter, as this can damage it.

The pre-filter is also cleanable and can be gently removed from the inlet grill. To clean the pre-filter, it should be submerged in warm, soapy water, gently lifted, and submerged several times until clean, then rinsed with clean water and allowed to dry completely before reinstallation.

External surfaces of the unit can be cleaned by turning off and unplugging the device, then wiping with a washcloth slightly dampened with a little water and dishwashing soap. Care must be taken to prevent water from slipping into the internal parts, which could cause damage or electrical shock. The unit should be thoroughly dry before use.

The UV lamp has a lifetime of up to 12 months of continuous, effective operation. Even if the bulb remains illuminated after this period, its effectiveness is significantly reduced, so annual replacement is recommended for maximum purification. Before replacing the UV lamp, the unit must be turned off and unplugged, and the lamp allowed to cool down for 5 minutes. The replacement process involves releasing the inlet grill, removing the HEPA-Type filter, unscrewing two bolts to remove the UV lamp cover, unscrewing the old UV lamp from its base, installing the new UV lamp, reattaching the cover with the bolts, and finally reinstalling the inlet grill. Users are cautioned not to touch the glass part of the lamp with bare hands, as oil from fingertips can decrease its effectiveness. The manual also contains a warning about UV light being harmful to bare skin and eyes, advising against looking directly at the illuminated UV lamp.
