How to fix low frame rates at 4K resolutions with epiphan video Media Converter?
    • J
      Jerry TerrellAug 14, 2025
To optimize performance with the epiphan video Media Converter, especially at 4K resolutions, use an Intel USB host controller. Also, adjust the color space settings in your application. NV12 and I420 (4:2:0) are available at 15, 23.97, 24, 25, 29.97, or 30 fps, while YUY2 (4:2:2) supports 5, 10, 15, or 20 fps.

Why can't I capture UHD at 30 fps with epiphan video Media Converter in VLC?
    • D
      Dana SellersAug 17, 2025
If you're unable to capture UHD resolutions at 30 fps using VLC with your epiphan video Media Converter, it's because VLC doesn't support the NV12 (4:2:0) colorspace. To resolve this, capture in either the YUY2 (4:2:2) colorspace, which will reduce the frame rate to 20 fps, or I420 (4:2:0) which will allow you to capture at speeds of up to 30 fps.
