What to do if my Epson Stylus PHOTO 1290 has low ink?

Why is my Epson Stylus PHOTO 1290 printing faint lines or gaps?
If your Epson printer is producing printouts with faint lines, images, or text, ensure that A4 or Letter size paper is loaded in the sheet feeder. For Windows, go to the printer software, click the Utility tab, and then click the Nozzle Check button. For Macintosh, go to the Print or Page Setup dialog box, click the Utility icon button, and then click the Nozzle Check button. Follow the on-screen instructions to check the print head nozzles. If segments are missing or faint, the print head nozzles may be clogged, so try the Head Cleaning utility.
