How to fix Erco & Gener GenPro 20e Modem returning nothing or random characters?
    • T
      Terri BrownAug 1, 2025
If your Erco & Gener modem returns nothing or random characters, first, ensure that the terminal configuration on your PC corresponds to the modem's settings: Speed = 9600 bps, Data bits = 8, Parity = none, Stop bits = 1, Flow control = hardware. Second, check for any conflicting applications using the same port and close them. Finally, verify that the modem echo is deactivated and without message reporting by entering the command ATE1Q0 followed by AT&W if a backup is required.

What to do if Erco & Gener GenPro 20e shows ERROR message with correct syntax but incorrect parameters?
    • C
      Christine CamposAug 10, 2025
If your Erco & Gener modem displays an ERROR message indicating correct AT command syntax but incorrect parameters, enter the command AT+CMEE=1 to receive an error message with its specific error code instead of just 'ERROR'. Then, re-enter the problematic AT command to obtain the error code, which will be in the form: +CME ERROR : , or +CMS ERROR : . It is also strongly recommended to systematically allow the modem to return error codes by entering the command AT+CMEE=1.
