This document provides a comprehensive guide for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the EAS Electric Modular Chiller, specifically models ECH-030N, ECH-060N, and ECH-090N.
Function Description
The EAS Electric Modular Chiller is an air-cooled heat pump unit designed for central air conditioning and hot water terminal equipment. It can operate in both cooling and heating modes. Each module features an independent electronic control unit and can be networked with up to 16 other modules for parallel operation, allowing for flexible system configurations based on user requirements. The microcomputer control system adjusts energy input according to the load, optimizing efficiency and reducing energy losses. The unit is suitable for outdoor installation on the ground or rooftops and is designed for industrial and civil use in various settings such as restaurants, hotels, apartments, office buildings, hospitals, and industrial parks. It is particularly recommended for scenarios requiring low noise and precise water supply control.
Important Technical Specifications
The chiller operates on a standard power supply of 380-415V 3N~50Hz, with a minimum allowable voltage of 342V and a maximum of 456V.

The units feature efficient, low-noise modular compressors, air-cooled condensers, plate evaporators, and microcomputer control centers. They are equipped with electronic expansion valves (EXVA and EXVB) for superheat control in heating and cooling modes, respectively.
Usage Features
- Operating Conditions: The unit is designed to operate within specific outdoor temperature ranges for optimal performance. For cooling, the range is 0-43°C (outlet water temperature 5-20°C). For heating, the range is -20-30°C (outlet water temperature 25-55°C).
- Wired Controller: The chiller is controlled via a wired controller, which allows users to:
- Turn the unit ON/OFF.
- Select operating modes (cooling, heating, auto).
- Set desired temperatures.
- Access a user menu for querying status (temperature, current, error history, protection status) and configuring settings (timer, silent mode, project menu).
- The controller features a lock function to prevent unauthorized access.
- Memory Function: In case of power interruption, the wired controller retains the last operating state (ON/OFF, mode, set temperature, error/protection status, timer, hysteresis) if the settings were configured at least 7 seconds prior to the interruption.
- Parallel Operation: Up to 16 wired controllers can be connected in parallel. Data synchronization ensures consistent operation across multiple units.
- Safety Features: The unit includes multiple protection functions:
- Current interruption protection.
- Power supply phase sequence protection.
- Excessive/low suction pressure protection.
- Compressor overcurrent and overload protection.
- Anti-freeze protection.
- Excessive/high discharge pressure protection.
- Water inlet and outlet temperature protection.
- System "plug and play" functionality.
- Standard RS-485/TS232 serial communication port.
- Water System: The water system requires careful installation, including proper flushing of pipelines, correct water flow direction, and the installation of a target flow controller for flow-break protection. Flexible ports are recommended to reduce vibration transfer to the building.
- Refrigerant: The unit uses R410A, a fluorinated greenhouse gas. It is forbidden to release it into the atmosphere. Regular leak checks are required based on the CO2 equivalent charge (every 3 to 24 months, depending on the quantity).
Maintenance Features
- Regular Checks:
- Pre-season (summer/winter) and Annual: Contact customer service for comprehensive checks and maintenance to prevent operational errors.
- Operational: Regularly monitor discharge and suction pressures, check electrical connections for looseness or corrosion, and verify voltage, current, and phase balance. Replace ineffective or unreliable electrical components promptly.
- Scale Removal: Over time, calcium oxide and other minerals can accumulate on heat transfer surfaces, reducing efficiency and increasing energy consumption. Organic acids (formic, citric, acetic) can be used for cleaning, but fluoroacetic acid or fluoride-containing agents are strictly prohibited for stainless steel heat exchangers. Scale removal should be performed by professionals, followed by thorough flushing and water treatment to prevent re-absorption of scale and corrosion.
- Winter Shutdown: For prolonged winter shutdowns, the unit's internal and external surfaces should be cleaned and dried, and the unit covered to protect against dust. The water system should be completely drained to prevent freezing. Injecting antifreeze into the pipes is also recommended.
- Component Replacement: Only use parts provided by the manufacturer. Never replace components with different types.
- Compressor Disassembly: Follow a specific procedure for compressor disassembly, including cutting off power, removing electrical connections, pipes, and fastening screws.
- Auxiliary Electric Heater: For cold regions (0-10°C ambient temperature in winter), an auxiliary electric heater can be used to maintain stable operation and compensate for heat loss during defrosting. Consult professionals for power requirements.
- Safety Valve Replacement: Safety valves have a warranty period of 24 months. Life expectancy for flexible sealing parts is 24-36 months, and for metal/PTFE sealing components, it's 36-48 months. After these periods, visual inspection is required for corrosion, cracks, or damage. Replacement involves reclaiming refrigerant, heating the sealant, and protecting the tank coating.
