Overview

The Ever Cool Pressurized Water Circulating Temperature Control Unit, Model TC140, is designed for efficient and reliable temperature regulation in various processes. This unit is part of a range of similar products from Ever Cool Ltd, tailored to meet diverse performance needs in process temperature control.

Function Description:

The TC140 unit is a pressurized water circulating temperature control system. Its primary function is to maintain a precise set temperature for a connected process by circulating water. It incorporates both heating and cooling capabilities to achieve and sustain the desired temperature. The unit automatically fills its tank from a cooling water supply and includes an autotuning function to automatically determine suitable control parameters for a precise process temperature.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum Water Inlet Pressure: 4 BAR for pressurized units.
  • Hose Rating (minimum for 140°C units): 150°C and 6 BAR.
  • Control Voltage: 24V.
  • Noise Level Power: LWA 80 (ISO 3746).
  • Heating Elements: Made from low watts density incoloy to minimize scaling.
  • Heat Exchanger (Cooler): Weld plate design for minimizing effects of uneven expansion and providing a large cooling surface.
  • Pump Type: Magnetic Drive Pump.
  • Thermocouple Type: J type.
  • Electrical System: Features a hybrid PCB circuit board for automatic control of heating and cooling functions.
  • Safety Features: Includes electrical and mechanical interlocks, guards, and safety devices. The power ON/OFF is controlled by a RED handle on the front panel, which interlocks with the mains isolator.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The unit should be positioned as close as possible to the equipment being controlled. It requires connections for "water inlet" (to factory mains or chilled water supply), "drain outlet" (to a drain), "to load," and "from load" using suitable hoses. Proper earthing and electrical connections by professional personnel are mandatory.
  • Filling: The tank fills automatically from the cooling water supply until the minimum level LED is extinguished.
  • Pump Operation: The pump runs in a CLOCKWISE direction when viewed from the front through the motor vent. If running anti-clockwise, two phase connections need to be swapped.
  • Air Bleeding: Below 80°C, the unit automatically bleeds air through a BLUE HOSE.
  • Cooling Water Flow: Cooling water flows through the heat exchanger to prevent scaling.
  • Pump Selection Switch: A central "O" position on the pump selection switch disables both pump and heating functions.
  • Setting Temperature: The set temperature value and measured process value are displayed digitally. Users can input the set temperature using the < and ^v keys, confirming with ل.
  • Autotuning: Pressing ل for 10 seconds activates the AUTOTUNING function, indicated by a "T" sign, which automatically determines optimal control parameters.
  • Additional Control Parameters (SET 0 to SET 8):
    • SET 0 (ST-0): Includes pb (Proportional valve of process), ti (Integral process time), td (Process derived), and cy (Process action cycle).
    • SET 1 (ST-1): Includes Db.cl (Cooling on delay, factory set at 2, e.g., energizes cooling solenoid at 82°C for a 80°C setpoint) and Crcl (Cooling relative gain, factory set at 0.4, adjustable for different chiller setups).
    • SET 2 (ST-2): Internal adjustment, not accessible.
    • SET 3 (ST-3): For units with current loop systems, includes AO.H (High outlet tension limit 4-20mA), AO.L (Low outlet tension limit 4-20mA), and AO.S (Sign outlet tension limit 4-20mA).
    • SET 4 (ST-4): Includes Bias (Correction Offset of the temperature), Unidad (Possibility to work in °C or °F), Out L (Limit percentage heaters power), Sp.II (Minimum set point process temperature), and Sp.hl (Maximum set point process temperature, 95 for water, 200 for oil machines).
    • SET 5 (ST-5): DEF (Default to preset factory settings, set to 100 to revert all SET parameters).
    • SET 6 (ST-6): LEVF (Locking function, Value 0 denies access, Value 1 allows access).
    • SET 7 (ST-7): For communications interface, includes COMS (Activation On/Off), Addr (Address assigned), bAud (Transmission speed: 0=2400, 1=4800, 2=9600), PAr (Parity bit 0-1-2), dEn (TCU unit working with interface 4-20mA, value "1" for single unit, "0" for multiple units except the last one which is "1"), and TCU unit working with interface RS 485 (value "1" for all TCU units).
    • SET 8 (ST-8): Includes In.LE (Selection level detection buOy magnetic sensor ELEC electrode), dC.ti (Pump connection time for optimum water level), CO.ti (Disconnection pump time for low water level), iP.AC (Activation view of process pressure transmitter On/Off), iP.AL (Maximum value alarm inlet pressure), iP.LL (Viewing minimum scale inlet pressure), iP.FS (Viewing background scale inlet pressure), rP.AC (Activation pressure transmitter for regulation process), rP.AL (Alarm pressure, maintain pressure in process), rP.LL (Minimum pressure level scale process), and rP.FS (Background process pressure scale).

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Precautions: Before any examination or repair, the equipment must be completely isolated from the electrical supply, and all parts allowed to cool below 50°C. Untrained persons should not attempt repairs.
  • Regular Inspection: All electrical and mechanical interlocks, guards, hose connections, filters, pipework, flexible hoses, valves, and other apparatus must be inspected regularly by competent personnel. Any sign of damage or leakage requires the equipment to be taken out of service until rectified.
  • Component Access: Heater and pump contactors, and pump overload are housed in a self-contained electrical cabinet behind the front panel, which hinges downwards for easy access.
  • Hose Removal: Process water temperature must be reduced to below 50°C, and units drained before removing process hoses.
  • Cleaning: Process circulation and external pipework should be kept clean and free from lime or particulate matter to prevent reduced heat transfer or pump damage.
  • Alarm List:
    • Err on lower display: Flow alarm (no flow) or open external thermocouple.
    • Ouer on lower alarm display: Open thermocouple.
    • HEAt on lower temperature alarm display: Indicates heating alarm (programmable).
    • Red LED pump off front panel: Pump thermal protection (pump stop).
    • Red LED Fluid Level front panel: Lack of fluid pressure (for pressurized equipment).
