•Alwaysoperate,inspectandmaintainthisspraygunin
accordancewithAmericanNationalStandardsInstituteSafetyCode
ofPortableAirTools(ANSIB186.1)andanyotherapplicablesafety
codes and regulations.
•Duringuseandwhilecleaningandflushing
spraygunsolventscanbeexpelled.Some
solventscancauseeyeinjury.Alwayswear
eyeprotection(usersandbystanders).
•Besureallintheareaarewearingimpact-
resistanteyeandfaceprotection(usersand
bystanders).Evensmallprojectilescaninjure
eyesandcauseblindness.
•Highsoundlevelscancausepermanenthearing
loss.Protectyourselffromnoise.Noiselevels
varywithworksurface.Wearearprotection
(usersandbystanders).
•Repetitiveworkmotions,awkwardpositionsand
exposuretovibrationcanbeharmfultohands
and arms.
•Airunderpressurecancausesevereinjury.
Alwaysshutoffairsupply,drainhoseofair
pressureanddisconnecttoolfromairsupply
whennotinuse,beforechangingac ces so ries
orwhenmakingrepairs.Neverdirectairat
yourselforanyoneelse.Whippinghosescan
causeseriousinjury.Alwayscheckfordamaged
orloosehosesandfittings.Neverusequick
changecouplingsattool.Theyaddweightand
couldfailduetovibration.Instead,addahose
whipandconnectcouplingbetweenairsupply
andhosewhip,orbetweenhosewhipand
leaderhose.Do not ex ceed max i mum air inlet
pres sure of 43 psig.
•Alwaysusespraygunatasafedistancefromotherpeople
inworkarea.
•Maintainspraygunwithcare.Keeptoolscleanandoiledforbest
andsafestperformance.Followinstructionsforlubricating
andchangingaccessories.Wipingorcleaningragsandother
flammablewastematerialsmustbeplacedinatightlyclosed
metalcontaineranddisposedoflaterintheproperfashion.
•Donotwearlooseorill-fittingclothing;removewatchesand rings.
•Donotoverreach.Keepproperfootingand
balanceatalltimes.Slipping,trippingand
fallingcanbeamajorcauseofseriousinjury
ordeath.Beawareofexcesshoseleftonthe
walkingorworksurface.
•Donotabusehosesorconnectors.Never
carryspraygunbythehoseoryankhoseto
disconnectfromairsupply.Keephosesfrom
heat,oilandsharpedges.Checkhosesfor
weakorwornconditionbeforeeachuse,
makingcertainthatallconnectionsaresecure.
•Whenpossible,secureworkwithclampsorvisesobothhands
are free to op er ate tool.
•Solventandpaintcoatingscanbehighly
flammablewhensprayed.Adequateventilation
exhaustmustbeprovidedtokeepairfreeof
accumulationsofflammablematerials.Smoking
mustneverbeallowedinthesprayarea.Fireextinguishing
equipmentmustbepresentinthepaintsprayarea.
•Certainpaintingsolventmaterialsmaybe
harmfulifinhaled,orifthereiscontactwith
theskin.Alwaysfollowtherequirementsofthe
MaterialSafetyDataSheetsuppliedbyyour
coatingmaterialmanufacturer.Adequate
exhaustventilationmustbeprovidedtokeep
theairfreeofaccumulationsoftoxicmaterials.
Alwaysuseamaskorrespiratorwhenever
thereisachanceofinhalingsprayedmaterials.
Themaskmustbecompatiblewiththe
materialbeingsprayedanditsconcentration.
RespiratorequipmentmustbeNIOSHapproved.
•Halogenatedhydrocarbonsolvents-
forexample:methylenechlorideand
1,1,1,-Trichlorethenearenotchemically
compatiblewiththealuminumthatmightbe
usedinsprayguncomponents.Thechemical
reactioncausedbythesesolventsreactingwithaluminumcan
becomeviolentandleadtoanequipmentexplosion.Gunswith
stainlesssteelinternalpassagewaysmaybeusedwiththese
solvents.However,aluminumiswidelyusedinotherspray
applicationequipment.Checkallequipmentitemsbeforeuseand
makesuretheycanalsobeusedsafelywiththesesolvents.Read
thelabelordatasheetforthematerialyouintendtospray.Ifin
doubtastowhetherornotacoatingorcleaningmaterialis
compatible,contactyourmaterialsupplier.
•Spraygunoperatorsshouldbegivenadequatetraininginthe
safeuseandmaintenanceoftheequipment.Usersmustcomply
withalllocalandnationalcodesofpracticeandinsurance
companyrequirementsgoverningventilation,fireprecautions,
operation,maintenance,andhousekeeping.TheseareOSHA
Sections 1910.94 and 1910.107 and NFPA-33.
•Useofspraygunsmaycausecumulativetraumadisorders
(CTD's).CTD's,whenusingsprayguns,tendtoaffecttheupper
extremities.Factorswhichmayincreasetheriskofdevelopinga
CTDinclude:
1.Highfrequencyoftheactivity.
2.Excessiveforce,suchasgripping,pinching,orpressingwith
thehandsandfingers.
