For best results please observe the following points:
Studies have shown that a 3 minute session of deep red light is sufficient to have a positive
biological effect on the cells of your retina which will help keep your eyes healthy.
To start the session simply press the On button on the base. The red light will then come on at
low brightness for 3 seconds before going to full brightness for 3 minutes. At the end of the
3 minutes the light will turn off automatically and the indicator light on the base will flash green
5 times to show a session has been completed successfully.
The beneficial effect of a single 3 minute session will last for around 7 days. Therefore, as a
minimum it is recommended to have at least one session every week.
Additional sessions may provide some additional benefits, particularly for specific eye conditions.
However, the overall outcome will vary between individuals and will also depend on the type and
severity of the eye condition. Please seek professional medical advice if you have any concerns.
If you have normal healthy eyes then 2 or 3 sessions a week may well provide additional benefit
but there is currently insufficient data to quantify the precise advantage of more frequent use.
Deep red light has very low energy and so more frequent sessions are not a risk to healthy eyes.
Based on your body’s natural circadian rhythm, your eyes are at their most receptive to red light
in the morning. Using red light in the afternoon or evening has little or no beneficial effect.
If you find the light of eyepower red too bright, it can be used with your eyes closed. Your
eyelids are almost transparent to light at 670nm so the same benefit will be achieved.
After the session has started it is most likely that you will start to see the red light change to
different colours. It is quite common to see green, orange, white, yellow or even a mix of all these
colours. This is completely normal and is due to the way the eye reacts to the red light.
At the end of the session you will experience an after image for a short period of time. This is
most often seen as green but might also show objects with a strong red tinge. This is perfectly
normal and will fade after a few minutes as your eyes adjust back to normal lighting levels.
