This document provides instructions and information for the EZGOAL Back Folding Metal Hockey Goal, model #38/#67099, designed for 1.20 m x 1.80 m (4 x 6 ft) dimensions. It also includes details for optional accessories: a Wheel Kit, a Backstop Kit with Targets, and a Shooter Tutor with replaceable target nets.

Function Description:

The EZGOAL Back Folding Metal Hockey Goal is a portable and foldable hockey goal designed for recreational use. Its primary function is to serve as a target for hockey practice and games. The "back folding" feature allows for compact storage and easier transport. The optional Wheel Kit enhances portability, enabling users to move the goal with less effort. The Backstop Kit with Targets provides an extended net area behind the goal to catch missed shots and includes target pockets for skill development. The Shooter Tutor accessory offers a practice aid with specific target zones to improve shooting accuracy.

Wheel Kit:

  • Function: Adds wheels to the goal for enhanced portability.
  • Components:
    • Wheel (50123) - 2 units
    • 8 mm bolt (6510) - 2 units
    • 8 mm self-locking nut (008) - 2 units
  • Installation Note: Nut goes on the outside of the goal, bolt on the inside. Do not overtighten the nut and bolt; it must spin inside the hole, and the nylon on the nut must be flush with the bolt to prevent spinning off.

Backstop Kit with Targets:

  • Compatibility: Fits 1.2 m x 1.8 m (4 ft x 6 ft) EZgoal hockey goals.
  • Function: Extends the net area to catch missed shots and includes target pockets for accuracy training.
  • Components (Key Parts):
    • Bottom U tube (PS56251 112) - 2 units
    • Top U tube (PS56251 022) - 2 units
    • Lower/Upper inside upright (PS56251 033, PS56251 044) - 2 units each
    • Outside upright (PS56251 055) - 4 units
    • Bolts 8 x 80 mm (B875) - 2 units
    • Bolts 8 x 30 mm (B830) - 2 units
    • Butterfly nuts 8 mm (N80) - 3 units
    • Black ropes (4.5 m, 1.5 m, 38 cm) for lacing and securing.
    • Side backstop net (9177) - 2 units
    • Top backstop net (9178) - 1 unit
    • Hockey 4 pocket targets nets 5 mm (69102) - 1 unit
  • Assembly Notes: Panels are assembled with corner loops facing each other and down tube loops back. Net lacing should be snug, starting from the bottom middle of the wiggle wire. Bolts and butterfly nuts are used to secure side panels. Top net connection uses thin short rope corner ties and a heavy main rope.

Shooter Tutor with replaceable target nets:

  • Function: Provides specific target zones for shooting practice.
  • Components:
    • Shooter Tutor (69991)
    • Straight pipe (9992)
    • Straight pipe with swedge (9993)
    • Centre target net (9994)
  • Installation Notes: Can be used with or without the target net. Attaches to the goal frame using Velcro straps. Centre bottom net target is installed first, followed by 4 corner net targets. The Shooter Tutor is placed on the frame, and webbing is slipped between the backstop and goal (if backstop is installed). Ensure the Shooter Tutor is not touching the ground and is centered. Pipes are inserted into the bottom pockets.
  • Replaceable Nets: All target nets are replaceable and can be ordered online.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: Instructions guide users through connecting parts, emphasizing proper bolt and nut placement.
  • Portability: The back folding design allows for compact storage. The optional Wheel Kit further enhances portability, making it easy to move the goal.

  • Folding and Storage (with net attached):
    1. Release button on the back bar support and pull apart.
    2. Pull pins on both folding legs.
    3. Press 4 buttons on the top rail to fold down the top shelf.
    4. Lift the base up and into the front of the goal.
    5. Reinsert pins into the top hole to secure the folded section in the up position.
    • Warning: Do not fold the backstop forward for storing without pressing the button on the side uprights. Only EZgoal models with 2.5 cm (2 in.) rings on the sides fold in.
  • Backstop Folding: The backstop is designed to fold in front of the goal by pressing a button on the bottom back of the side uprights of the EZgoal goal, allowing the ring on the goal to rotate. This enables the backstop to swing in front of the goal for storage.
  • Windy Conditions: Fold panels forward to stabilize the unit in windy conditions.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Wear safety goggles for net assembly.
    • Children must be supervised at all times.
    • Use on a level surface.
    • Never use near steps or stairs.
    • For outdoor use only.
    • Maintain 8 feet clearance from structures (fence, garage, house, branches, laundry lines, electrical wires).
    • Use common sense and precautions as with any sport.
    • Secure unit to prevent high winds from blowing it over.
    • NEVER allow anyone (people or pets) to stand behind the net or in the path of a ball/puck.
    • Inspect unit before and during each use; replace worn or damaged parts.
    • Never allow children to stand on the unit.
    • Do not use bungees for purposes other than applying the net.
    • Always wear recommended safety equipment during sporting activity.
    • Never leave children unattended.
    • Use protective eyewear when securing bungees.
