Deck Leveling Procedure
This series of mower features two different front deck
mounting systems depending on the serial number of the unit.
Models in serial number range4001489241 and below
feature a slot mounting system.
Models in serial number range 4001489242 and above
feature a three hole mounting system.
Refer to the correct Deck Leveling Procedure section based
on the serial number of your unit.
Deck Leveling Procedure - S/N: 4001489241 and
Below
1. Place the deck height adjustment pin in the 4" (10,2 cm)
position.
2. Place 2 X 4 blocks (B, Figure 59) under each corner
of the mower deck with the 3-1/2" sides being vertical.
Place a 1/4" (0,64 cm) thick spacer (C) on the top of the
rear blocks. The arrow (A) points towards the front of the
mower deck.

3. Loosen the nuts (D, Figure 60) and allow the front of the
deck to rest on the 2 X 4's. Slide the chains in the slots
until the chains are tight and tighten the nuts.

4. Loosen the nuts (C) and allow the rear of the deck to rest
on the 2 X 4's and 1/4" spacers. Slide the chains in the
slots until the chains are tight and tighten the nuts.
5. Repeat the process for the other side of the unit.
6. Remove all the blocks and spacers for under the mower
deck.
7. Perform the Determining if the Deck Leveling Needs to
be Adjusted procedure to verify that the deck has been
leveled correctly.
If the mower deck does not measure 4" (10,2 cm) in
the front and 4-1/4" (10,8 cm) in the rear, proceed
with step #8.
8. Loosen the jam nut (A) and turn the fine adjustment bolt
(B) to adjust the deck height.
Turn the bolt clockwise to raise the deck.
Turn the bolt counter-clockwise to lower the deck.
9. Once the desired measurements are achieved, tighten
the jam nut.
10. Repeat the process for the other side of the unit.
Deck Leveling Procedure - S/N 4001489242 and
Above
1. Set the mower deck to the 4" (10,2 cm) cutting height
position.
2. Measure from the front tips of the blades to the ground.
If the measurements between the front tips of the
blades and the ground is greater than 4-1/4" (10,8
cm) or less than 3-3/4" (9,5 cm) the hole that the
mounting hardware is in will need to be relocated.
If the measurements between the front tips of the
blades and the ground falls between 3-3/4" (9,5 cm)
and 4-1/4" (10,8 cm), skip to step #6.
3. Place blocking underneath all four corners of the mower
deck until the hanger chains are slack.
4. Position the hardware (A, Figure 61) that secures the
front hanger chain (B) to the front mounting plate (C).
If the measurement between the front tip of the
blade and the ground was 4-1/4" (10,8 cm) or higher,
position the hardware in the next higher hole in the
front mounting plate.
If the measurement between the front tip of the blade
and the ground was 3-3/4" (9,5 cm) or lower, position
the hardware in the next higher hole in the front
mounting plate.
