The FETCO GR Series Coffee Grinders are commercial-grade coffee grinding machines designed for efficient and precise grinding of whole coffee beans. These grinders are available in several models, including GR-1.2, GR-1.3, GR-2.2, and GR-2.3, catering to different operational needs.

Function Description:

The primary function of the GR Series grinders is to convert whole coffee beans into ground coffee suitable for brewing. The GR-1 models (GR-1.2 and GR-1.3) feature a single permanent hopper, while the GR-2 models (GR-2.2 and GR-2.3) are equipped with dual removable hoppers, offering greater flexibility for different coffee types or batch sizes. All models utilize FETCO slicing-type grinding burrs for consistent grind quality. The grinding process is fully automatic and controlled by a digital timer, allowing users to set precise grind times for various batch sizes. The GR-2 models incorporate a hopper solenoid that opens a guillotine at the bottom of the hopper, allowing beans to drop into the grinder. After the timed cycle, the guillotine closes, and the auger spring continues to feed any remaining beans into the grinding chamber, followed by a motor delay to ensure all beans are ground and to prevent cross-contamination. The grinders also feature a self-adjusting brew basket holder, accommodating various brew basket sizes.

Usage Features:

• Ease of Operation: To operate, users simply turn the on/off switch to the on position (which illuminates to indicate power), fill the hopper(s) with whole coffee beans, place a brew basket with a paper coffee filter in the plastic holding arms, and press the desired portion switch. The grinder completes its cycle automatically.
• Portion Control: Models offer either 2 or 3 portion sizes per side, allowing for flexibility in batch grinding. Grind times can be programmed and adjusted for various batch sizes, with approximate grind times provided for different coffee dosages (e.g., 1/2 Gallon, 1 Gallon, 2 Gallons, etc.).
• Digital Timer Control: The fully automatic operation is managed by a digital timer, ensuring consistency and precision in grinding.
• Motor Delay (GR-2 models): After the hopper guillotine closes, the motor continues to run for a factory-set 20 seconds (adjustable) to ensure all beans are ground and prevent cross-contamination between different coffee types.
• Foreign Object Protection: The grinders are equipped with two types of overload protection: an audible alarm on the control board for overheating and a thermal breaker for the motor. These features prevent damage if a foreign object stalls the motor.
• Brew Basket Compatibility: The plastic holding arms are designed to hold all FETCO brew baskets up to 16" x 6" and most other manufacturers' brew baskets. For baskets that don't fit, coffee can be ground directly into the filter placed on the lower shelf.

Maintenance Features:

• Cleaning:
  • Stainless steel surfaces should be cleaned with stainless steel cleaner (avoid abrasives).
  • Other surfaces can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
  • Removable hoppers on GR-2 models are dishwasher safe (covers are not) and FETCO recommends hand drying them after washing.
• Grind Adjustment: The grind setting can be adjusted from coarse to fine. This involves emptying the hopper(s), clearing the grinding chamber, removing the front cover, loosening a retaining nut, turning an adjustment screw (clockwise for finer, counter-clockwise for coarser), then re-tightening the retaining nut. A factory default reset procedure is also outlined.
• Service Friendly Design: The grinders are designed for front accessibility, making service and maintenance easier.
• Professional Service: Installation, adjustment, and service sections are explicitly marked for professional use only. Users are advised not to open panels or attempt user-serviceable repairs due to the risk of fire or electric shock. All adjustments and service must be performed by authorized professional personnel.
• Warranty: All FETCO grinders come with a limited warranty, and warranty service requires authorization from the Technical Support Department. A Return Authorization number is issued for parts replaced under warranty.
• Support: Technical support is available via phone and email during Central Time business hours for assistance with service and support information.
